Here comes the coaching firing/hiring carousel.

Who you got on the hot seats/firing??

In the ACC, we already know Louisville. But would UNC fire Fedora? Miami fire Richt?

Big 12 we know of Kansas and now Les Miles, but is KState going to retire Snyder??
Texas Tech, would they fire Kliff Kingsbury?

Big Ten, should be a fairly calm season. Should be. Obviously the Purdue job can come open with Brohm leaving. Maryland is open. I would imagine Rutgers would also come open.

Pac 12, we know Colorado's job is open, I have to imagine the USC job will come open

SEC, Arkansas surely will come open, I am wondering if Auburn and Malzhan part ways?

Most of these openings don't move the needle. I mean USC's is a plum job, L'ville will take a P5 Head Coach away from another program. But I don't think most of these jobs would take a current sitting P5 job, they mostly would be lateral or step downs.

Like it or not, Narduzzi is going to be sought after for lateral jobs like Maryland, Rutgers, and Purdue.

depending how the season plays out, Urban may experience "health issues" and want to spend more time with the family. That would be big. Who would they go after? Fickell didn't do so well there. Herman? He's a texas native. Although I think Urban has another miraculous recovery and comes back another year.

Maybe Harbaugh to the NFL if they pull the big surprise and win it all this year? Go out on top and then back to the NFL. Riley to Cleveland? From my other post....Franklin to USC?

I don't see any of these "bigs" opening up though. Richt I think gets one more year, but he's not going to get it done in Miami.

Jimmy Franks and Urban will just switch jobs. :D

And remember tOSU has the Axe Man right on their own sideline! He is adept at keeping quiet on scandals too. Which is nice.

Yeah, from Pat Forde's column today. It definitely mention Urban at Ohio State may have to step down. And an tOSU and USC opening is going to pull some big names. Out buddy James from State College is mentioned. And that would open PSU. Though I imagine if the PSU job would come open, the fact that they had to replace 2 coaches in less than 8 years, the insular nature of Happy Valley they may look to a Mike Munchak to stabilize this job.

I don't think anyone harbors disillusion that this won't be true, especially the more the streak continues. Or even if it three straight losses. Our situation as a cash challenged non Blue blood presents the regular fine line of "our coach stinks! Why did we hire him" that literally on a dime turns into "ohhhhhh sh*t he's gonna leave!"

How true that is. Narduzzi's recruiting still scares the crap out of me. I want him to stay but if someone paid us a buyout and we could bring in a top recruiter, I wouldn’t be broken up about it

WHy I thought the conventional wisdom on this board was that hes a terrible recruiter and poor coach. LOL this board is psychotic.

LOL another classic. Duzz stinks, the program has nothing to offer out of one side of the mouth, then he wins a few and everyone will be looking at him and we wont have the money to keep him but we will some how find the money to hire a better coach..........

Other than Purdue's Brohm going home, I have a hard time seeing Louisville getting another P5 head coach unless it is a recently fired one. As much as they like to view themselves as being a Blue Blood they are not at all. Add in the fact that Papa Johns has his own crap to worry about, the money may not be there for them to lure another P5 coach there, especially with how dysfunctional they appear to be right now.

Geez, the shine fell off of richt’s star pretty quick. Is that a saying? You know what I mean.

Mark Richt will have at least five seasons at Miami. Miami has had some serious issues before he got there. He walked into a challenge, and they knew it. They are not going to get rid of one of their own that quickly.

The USC job is the big plum. Ditto tOSU if Urban steps down. As good as the job is, USC has made some terrible coach hiring decisions since it let McKay go. Ted Tollner, Paul Hackett and now Helton might be three of the worst decisions ever made by an elite program. Helton was a disaster waiting to happen since the day he was hired. Yet, that is a program that is easy to get back to prominence with the right hire.

I would expect tOSU to go with Fickell. Brian Kelly is a name mentioned for the USC job. I have heard Franklin’s name mentioned as well as the Iowa State Coach.

And, of course, Penny has relatives in Southern California. :)

I can't see Arkansas making a move after one year. A transition from a Beliema offense to Chad Morris is going to take a few recruiting cycles.

By the way, TV stations in LA are reporting that Helton’s buyout is $15 Million. Not chump change even for USC.

The trick to winning at USC is evaluating high school talent, not recruiting it. There are still many top HS programs here that are essentially USC feeder schools. If USC wants their top players, they get them. But, Helton and his staff have not done a very good job of evaluating the local talent. One newspaper recently ran a story comparing an All Star team of local kids who didn’t have USC offers and went elsewhere to the starting lineup for USC, and it was not pretty.

You need to remember that HS football here is dominated by Catholic and private schools which have no territorial boundaries. That’s how a QB like Josh Rosen, who is Jewish and lives in Pacific Palisades, 90 minutes from Bellflower, ended up at St John Bosco. Other supposedly public high schools like Long Beach Poly have teams where the majority of their players don’t even live in Long Beach. All a kid has to do is say he wants to study a program his local high school doesn’t offer and he can go to Poly. Once they get there, they can study anything. Mission Viejo is the same. It has three academic programs not offered by most Orange County high schools, and, lo and behold, amazingly a large percentage of its FB team are part of one of those three programs.

A large number of those programs typically send their top players to USC. The problem USC has is that Helton and his staff haven’t done very well in identifying talent and offering the guys who turn out to be the top players in the area.

So USC will be less interested in hiring a dynamic recruiter than it will in hiring a great evaluator of talent. Ordinarily, the $15 Million buyout wouldn’t be a deterrent for USC, but right now the school is faced with paying what could be as much as $75 to $100 Million in other claims, and while I still think it will pay the buyout, it won’t have the money to spend for a replacement that it otherwise would.

Between USC and Miami struggling maybe there are actually too many distractions for players (and coaches too) in the glamorous cities! It can't always be bad luck with 4 and 5 star guys...
