To those who claim pitt is spending money

Who knows? But I for one would sure like the opportunity to arise. Not holding my breath.

I'm serious, if Pitt suddenly doubled its annual donations from fans, where would the money go? What are the needs? Yes, they could use more endowments, but at the average fan donation level, the money given would generally support the current operations of the program.

Presume they would certainly put some of it toward coaching salaries and recruiting budgets. As Pitt-girl said, would be nice to see Pitt in that situation for a change. Hail to Pitt!

I'd go a step further and say that the issue isn't those who already donate to the PC (although everyone giving a bit more would help), it's obviously those who donate nothing.

Until that group becomes invested enough to start giving, Pitt will alway be at or close to the bottom of the ACC in donations. Unfortunately it's a much bigger problem than success on the field or hardwood - it truly is cultural. I don't envy our Athletic Department. Make one mis-step and the yinzers throw up their hands and whine which I find funny because if you don't donate, you don't really have the right to complain.
Vicious cycle.

And I would conjecture that many of those that donate nothing are some of the biggest complainers , whiners and bitchers on here. Like you, from my perspective, the complaints of those that invest nothing in the program are worthless.

Just do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that Louisville, 'Bama, FSU, Texas Tech, tOSU, Baylor, Miami etc. would do.

But they are mean evil programs , who just want to win. Pitt wants to do it the right way, copout, and would rather go 0 12 to prove that point.

Your act gets tired Souf. Really old. Just keep pushing your pathetic agenda. What an A** BTW I am over a $3500 a year donor. So knock off your " I contribute more money than you "b.s

I always enjoy, not only being on the dark side, but flaunting it! Like winking at the people who "do it the right way" and lose from the podium when they're handing me the trophy.

souf's got this devotion to Pederson thing going, It's quite odd. Him and like two or three other posters seem to always post about stevie with such loyalty. The Dixon thing only enforced it too. Why in the world any pitt fan would stick up for Pederson is beyond me but hey, it makes for entertaining threads so what the hell.

It has nothing to do with Steve or Barnes .
The poInt was clearly missed .

We are 2-2...the definition of middling .
Our spending is not different than it was in the past few years /..
But there is a mistaken perception we are "investing" now in football .

Because people want to believe it. ..despite our staff being made of small
Timers .

Lol. Exactly , like laughing at us and winking at us, as we go 6-6 for eternity

We are spending more than we have in a long time, but still at bottom half of spending. So in reality , we are not even caught up from the Nordy debacle

You can also throw Nordy in that as well, which some don't like to admit to either. I mean no spending was done under these two, and Nordy even hired the incompetent back for more screwing of Pitt football

I am sure nordy has done great things for pitt, just not for the athletic side. sports plays a small role in the grand scheme of things though, so that 2 million dollar severance package to his buddy, disguised as a bonus, well let's just look the other way.

I agree with this, but his job was both. Did one very well, the other very poorly

Pitt ask for more donations to keep up with the Jones's, but then handed Pederson 5 million of PITT money we could have used to make Pitt better, that should have everyone pissed off

We are 3-2. We played Marshall this weekend and won. You can probably find a replay on WatchESPN.

A proud P5 football program can do wonders for the college as a whole , Nordy didn't get that , but he is a egg head type, and those people do some things exceptional and than other things almost learning disabled. When you hired Pederson back the second time, and in business that's a BIG NO, especially when he left , for what he thought was his dream job, only to fail , you don't get it period

He follows Pederson at McDonald's and Dixon at dead end TCU, more than he follows Pitt. I love Pitt first not some damn coach and a failed AD

We're 3-2, two plays from being 5-0...I get your point and agree we need more support, but I honestly don't think there are any more Pitt fans out there who are willing to donate. That's what I struggle with, where are these extra donors coming from?

Gotcha. In that case, you might not know it, but playing an FCS opponent is something every school does and the win counts for bowl eligibility and the regular season record. Been that way for a long time.

Hey, with our 3-2 record, we are right there or above other middling programs LSU, USC, Texas, OU, and FSU!

You don't fire a faithful son like Wannstedt only to hire a wife beating lower level coach, who seemed crazy in one setting in front of us, if you are really trying to win big boy football

Disclaimer, didn't say Wanny shouldn't have been fired, I wouldn't have, but what took place after that and without a plan before that , showed me the two idiots running things were INCOMPETENT

Your donation wouldn't even get you a parking pass next to Beaver Stadium if you were a PSU booster so let's not pretend this is "big" money for college football.

Yes it would. Talked to a PSU fan at Marshall Pitt game , just came as a couple because they had tickets already and they were great. They live in Pittsburgh and go to PSU games. They said for 100 bucks most weekends, get you a decent seat for a game. I wondered that myself.

Do you know what Pitt's football budget is and how it has changed since Barnes arrived?

He doesn't and he doesn't want to, won't fit the agenda , but it's much more than it has been, needs to be even more if possible. We are just catching up to our brothers

Lol. Exactly , like laughing at us and winking at us, as we go 6-6 for eternity
Yup, and we're telling ourselves we are better people while they get lauded and PAID and showered with accolades! Laughing all the way to the bank, and truth is, they get invited to the White House because nobody cares how they did it.

My uncle is a PSU season ticket holder and has been for 40 years and his parking pass is $4,000. That's four grand for a spot for your car and not your ass.

I guess you can pay big bucks but you can also get around some of that as well. I won't argue about PSU cult more fanatical, and taking in more money than we do. I see your point for sure

My point, and I'm not admonishing you, is that $3,500 ain't anything at most college football programs. If I walk into the booster club office at Alabama, Oregon, Clemson or FSU and say, "I have a BIG CHECK for $3,500 and I want the best seats," they'll laugh and have them fill out information for a waiting list.

At Pitt, we think it's baller status. It's a nice donation, don't get me wrong, and we need more of them. But at "real" programs, its a drop in the bucket.

Agree, no doubt. Be nice if Pitt could hold the city up at gun point like the Rooneys have over the years
