Today is the Worst Day for PSU Since 2011

Devastating court records release today. Joe knew since 1976. Lots of other people knew as well, including Bradley and Schiano. What a sick, twisted dark cult they had out there in Unhappy Valley. PSU will NEVER fully recover from this, just like SMU is still stained 30 years later. When they write the obituary for Penn State football, the Sandusky scandal goes in the first paragraph. It's the first thing you think of when Penn State comes to mind. If people at Pitt ever do something like this, I will personally throw them off the Cathedral of Learning. I cannot wait to crush them in September.

Fair enough, but I don't even see today as a "needle-mover."

Schiano and Tom Bradley have some questions they need to answer, no doubt. But as regards Penn State football as a whole, has anyone's opinion really changed because of today?

The problem at Penn State is that people like that scum bag John Ziegler have brainwashed the cult into thinking Sandusky and by extension Paterno are completely innocent.

Ziegler will challenge people on Twitter to find factual evidence Sandusky was guilty. But, the entire case was based on testimony from numerous kids who's stories were consistent and the jury found credible enough to convict Sandusky.

Schiano or Bradley confirming they saw something would be devastating for Penn State

Gosh... I hope Penn State fans who backed these coaches so fiercely have changed opinions! Most of them may be monsters, but I really doubt when reviewing testimony that see that maybe peoples lives trump a college football team in a small town.

This all was a brilliant and elaborate plot hatched in the 70's by people who were jealous of Joe and PSU. They planted this evidence this stuff 30 years ago knowing that this would be cash cow 30 years later

A brilliant yes duplicitous scheme and money grab if you ask me. It is amazing that people can't see through this obvious transparent and deceitful actions by people looking for a hand out.

There is no doubt this helps vindicate Joe and the statue should go back up tomorrow. I am glad this has now all been opened up and Joes good name has been cleared.

Shouldn't be though? I mean this was 25 years prior. This was all in some kind of public record if people wanted dig. It is obvious that not just Joe but a lot of ranking authorities up there knew

They all chose to follow Joe's lead. It has to cause even the staunchest Joebots cause to reflect on their positions

And it is their and Paterno family's fault because they could not let it die.

Don't be surprised that franklin bolts after this year!
How can he dominant the state in recruiting when Temple is negatively bringing up the child molester!!

Actually the NCAA should revisit this with information dating back to the 1970's!
ups should be stripped of their national titles and forfeit all games where the pedophile was a member of the coaching staff!

Actually, they should go back and re-install the sanctions that were rescinded. But we all know that the NCAA lacks the cajones to do anything that dynamic.

They'd jump all over a smaller, less prominent football program. But a Big Ten school? No way.

Really want to see the child support groups that this and run with the information. Child molestation
needs to see the light of day and not covered up by power brokers no matter how strong and influential.

You nailed it. There was a good reason why the Nits' BOT rushed to accept the "slap-on-the-wrist" that the NCAA was offering. They were told that if the whole truth was ever revealed, it would be a decade before Beaver Stadium would see a P-5 football game again.

But that wasn't acceptable to the Paterno family; they chose to engage in some high stakes gambling - and they lost.

A video recording could be made public tying Paterno directly to it, and the PS cult would still not believe it. There is no amount of proof that would be good enough for the Cult.

He was convicted on over 40 felony charges by a jury of his peers.
That is proof.

PSU has already recovered from this; lets face it they were pretty much unscathed throughout the whole ordeal. They were lucky to get away with the punishment they did and even more lucky to be let off the hook a heck of a lot sooner. Besides getting some public backlash from public opinion, nothing really changed. Fans and alumni of PSU remain in adamant denial that nothing really happened or if it did didn't warrant the response/punishment they received. PSU continued to recruit well during the time; cause they were still a highly marketable brand and thanks to BOB guidance the team remained relevant on gamedays. If you read comments from PSU fans today they continue to be in denial that JoePa and his crew did nothing wrong and that media is blowing things out of proportion. Heck I swear half of them think they are the ones who are the victims. The way this was handled from the beginning is sickening and what was basically taught is that football is still more important than anything in Happy Valley.

I'm not so sure that PSU isn't going down the OJ Simpson path. Seems to me that apart from the time it took for OJ to fall from grace, PSU has many parallels. Simpson had the bad luck to live and thus be scrutinized more. Joe died a saint to many....doubt that holds true today...at least, not where sainthood REALLY matters.

What this now shows is that Paterno knew all this was going on while was in charge of running the athletic department in the early 80's. It shows that he turned a blind eye and kept all systems go while the ticklemoster was on the loose.

If the NCAA had any guts they would go back and do what they should have done to begin with. Send a message and shut them down.

I wondered why Penn State was so quick to accept what the NCAA gave them until all the facts came out, now I'm starting to find out why. I think it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better for them.

The NCAA might not be able to do much at this point. But how about the AP and UPI (I think they were doing the football polls back in the day) go back and rescind the national championships that PSU were awarded back in the early/mid 80's?

What should happen and will happen are two different things.

As I said about a month ago, some schools have grown too big and influential to get the hammer laid on them. These not-so-new findings will change nothing. This is just my humble opinion, but I think that the NCAA has neither the cajones nor the will to pursue this any further.

Absolutely does. It just strengthens the fact that Joe knew and now we find out that two prominent coaches on the staff knew as well...

It may not move the needle for you because you already accept the truth. However, for some of in Happy Valley, this will be a bitter pill to swallow.

As for the nut cases, this will only make them look more stupid as they continue their crusade for the REAL truth...

If the joebots had just left this alone, we wouldn't be talking about this today. They have kept this alive...

(1) A significant segment of "Paterno Loyalists" wouldn't accept things even if God himself hit them with lightning bolts. Multiple times. They are what they are.

(2) Even in the absence of "Paterno Loyalists", this would be a story. Absolutely would be.

(3) As of the moment, I'm not hanging either Bradley or Schiano. I have an open mind, and I think it's silly for anyone to see decisively "they knew." All we have at this point is "he said, she said." The tennis ball has simply been volleyed back into McQueary's end of the court. More tennis balls to be hit on this one .........

State college is small and has grown allot in the last 20+ years. If coaches did not hear, see or discuss Sandusky incidents, they would have to be the dumbest folks to walk the earth. At this point I do not believe any statement from any coach or administrator from the school during this timeframe saying they had no knowledge. You would be smart to stop believing these folks as well. I thought you were one of the good ones!

Well it is that same arrogance of getting away with it through all those years, to the reduction of sanctions and restoring of wins, they believe they can do and get whatever they want. And they mostly have.

As of this moment, there's one BIG difference between Paterno and Schiano/Bradley:

Paterno, in a sworn deposition, acknowledged that McQueary told him about Sandusky.

There is no such thing (or even close to such a thing) from either Schiano or Bradley yet.

Fair enough if you've made up your mind. But IMO the latter two still deserve some benefit of the doubt here.

i don't spend much time perusing other sites, but i was curious to read some of the take of the posters over at BWI and it is entertaining. They continue to be in denial and think that Paterno is basically a saint who has done no wrong. The arrogance and more importantly ignorance of that fan base is sad.

Joe embodied Success With Honor. When I think of Joe's real legacy and Penn State's enduring legacy (more than the old-guard bot and their ilk), it is Success With Honor. I am a proud Penn Stater.

F-ck the rest.
