STRIKE 3 ..... Aldenhoven pitches out of a 1st inning jam .......
1st two Va. batters grounded out but then a walk, single, walk loaded the bases with two outs ...... Rhys struck out the next batter to end the inning ! ...... no score going to the bottom of the 1st.

Bunt by Va., Aldenhoven throws to 1st and Shelinsky drops the ball..

No further damage in the 3rd ..... 2-0 Va. going to the bottom of the 3rd..
good play by Wolsonovich on a ground ball in the hole at shortstop to get a force out at 2nd then nice play by Pazos to pick runner off 3rd in a run down.

9 straight Pitt batters have struck out. UVA pitcher has faced 13 batters, 10 have struck out. Our only base-runner has been on an error. Only 2 Pitt batters in 4 innings have hit a fair ball and no one in 4 innings has hit the ball out of the infield?
Pitt has not has a hit for the last 10 innings!!!!! last 6 vs YSU and 4 today vs UVA. Maybe we'd better go back to wooden bats?

Even if they are facing Sandy Koufax in his prime, someone has to at least "hit" the ball in fair territory, don't they?

Re: A lot of the strikeouts are swings and misses at bad pitches .....
I know I'm being too negative, but what about the last 6 innings vs YSU, we didn't get a hit there either? Now 5 more innings today, our bats have gone into a deep freeze.
Wind blown fly ball to RF falls in and Va. scores 2 runs .... 4-0 Va. ..
Pitt making a pitching change with 2 outs and a man on 2nd ...... the wind is tough (like playing in Candlestick Park in the old days) but really, Roche should have had that ball .... it would have ended the inning and kept the score 2-0 ..... it's now 4-0 and Va. still batting.
