Strong basically did most of what he was hired to do, which was to clean the thugs, and bad actors out of the program, who were running amok under Mack Brown. Herman is stepping into a good situation, as Strong has recruited well his last two years.
I told people on this board 2 months ago that LSU was no lock to get Herman, and that it would depend on what other jobs opened up. LSU is a good job, but it's a step below Texas. LSU has the 800lb gorilla siting in it's neighborhood. Texas doesn't have to deal with anything like that unless they're in the playoff. If USC was looking, Herman might have picked them over LSU as well.
