only 3 more days in the month of Izzotime.

The guy's unreal. Hope he dispatches Pitino and gets his 7 seed into the FF.

Great matchup of coaches right there. Neither with one of their better teams and both in the Elite 8-as usual. I like Pitino, but I LOVE Izzo.

Sparty On!

I'm probably more amazed at what Pitino has done getting this team to the Elite 8, a team that struggled late, lost in the first rd of the ACCT.

That being said, Izzo probably wins Sunday. They've beaten Virginia and Oklahoma last 2 games, a much tougher test IMO than northern Iowa/nc st. These two teams are really more like 4/5 seeds, Michigan st as a 7 seed is just criminal. Especially when you had teams like Georgetown, Xavier, SMU seeded ahead of them. Iowa was a 7 seed also, I imagine UVA wishes they were in that bracket.

But Izzo can coach who handles the ball and shoots FTs in the last 60 seconds of a 1 point game.

6-6.

Izzo and Pitino - mentally tough teams who make plays and win in March.

Got what? Trust me, I know Izzo and Petino are not coaching the Panthers. If you are talking about the incessant free throw talk here...I've never participated....so you must have your players confused. Hail to Pitt!

Re: Reply

Here's another way you could look at it KJ-if Izzo had his usual solid foul shooting team, this game wouldn't have come down to the last 60 seconds.

Pick your poison, but the end game is always the same. The debate is idiotic. It's better to have a high team FT% than a low one. It affects the outcome of games. You can't always count on having your best foul shooters at the line in the closing minutes.

Re: Reply

So you are saying if Izzo were a competent FT coach, they would have won easily. You defeat your own argument and don't even see it. The guys on the floor matter at the end of the game, not the whole team. Why do you keep thinking all 13 guys are on the floor at once.? That is a technical foul.

Everything he does in the regular season-the brutal non-conference scheduling, the roster change-ups, the increased minutes for bench players down the stretch-is all in preparation for March. He'd rather lose a game in February than in March. 7 seed? He doesn't care-hell, give him a 16 seed. Come the first game of the Dance, he has 'em ready.

He hasnt done what he's done in the month March by accident.
