Top 2023 QB backing out of FLA commitment after $13 million deal not honored

It appears that the problem is that the Florida boosters have reneged on the deal. They want to sign him to a lesser deal, and they want him to agree as part of that that he won't sue to enforce the original deal. So far he and his family seem more likely to sue than agree to that.
I think that's what everyone is thinking but has anyone with any real knowledge of the situation said anything for certain?

Right, but to what extent? I don't believe for a minute that there is $13 million involved here. If he was worth that much, he'd easily get it from the next school.

The Athletic says that he signed a $13+ million NIL contract on November 10. It says that the collective that signed him didn't have anywhere near enough money on hand to actually pay for the deal they agreed to, apparently assuming that they were going to get money from other boosters or a different NIL collective. Then on December 7 the CEO of the collective sent Rashada a letter of termination for the NIL contract.

As of now he isn't getting offers from other schools because he signed a LOI. But rest assured that if he gets out of his LOI he will have lots of other people willing to offer him a lot of money. Maybe not $13 million, but a lot of money. I mean what do we think that the idiot down in Miami was offering him when he was a Miami verbal? Not $13 million, but certainly not chump change.

Would seem that signing LOI's isn't smart business for top recruits. Give away all of your leverage.

But there isn't anyone saying that on the record. It's all based on the "insiders" who are always full of crap.

Well if you are waiting for someone to comment on the record on one of these deals you are going to wait for a very, very long time.

What incentive would anyone have to comment on the record about the actual numbers in an NIL contract? It wouldn't make any sense at all for any of the parties involved.

Of course there would be a contract. He'd sign with their collective and if he left school, I am sure he wouldn't get some of it.
I would love to give one of these contracts a look. It's clearly "pay for play" if he has to play on the team to get paid.

You're not wrong at all but it all feels a bit too outlandish to just take at face value.

Well, its 100% a recruiting violation to sign an NIL contract with a school's booster collective before ever becoming a student. Remember that technically, NIL cannot be used for recruiting. So there can only be unofficial wink and nod "deals" made which is why you hear some players become upset that they weren't paid as much as promised. So if this kid actually signed a contract, that's like Death Penalty stuff for UF football though obviously the NCAA doesn't care about any of this. And if he did sign this contract, I'm not sure how that Collective would win a court battle if he sues.

ESPN article today states it was a $13 million/4 year deal. I have no idea how that isnt a major recruiting violation. NIL isnt allowed to be used to recruit. I could see a wink and nod unwritten deal that nobody can track. But an actual financial contract to a HS recruit?

They were a game away from making the playoffs…
but lost their conference championship game to a below average Utah team and then lost in embarrasing fashion to something called Tulane... seems to be absolutely the definition of what he said....a team that went basically no where

Since he officially requested out today, this story was everywhere.

And I was interested in which QBs 247 ranked as Top 30 overall recruits over the last 4 years (which is where Rashada ranks).

13 million might actually be in the neighborhood of a fair price when you look at the hit rate. It’s at least two Heisman trophy winners in the group.
