Do we sneak into the Top 25 this week so that Tuesday's game will be billed as two ACC ranked teams competing @ Cameron Indoor? I went out on a limb and predicted we would get into the Top 25 with a 12-2 record. Let's see how the AP and/or coach's poll concurs. Another great team win tonight. Yes, there were more TO's than assists but after the beginning of the second half, there was no doubt as to who would win

For those who wager, did we cover? I didn't see the point spread prior to tip off

28th in Torvik
22nd in Ken Pom
11-14 in Net tomorrow

I also thought if they went 4-0 and were 12-2 they would be ranked heading into Duke, but then they kept losing votes each week after the cupcake wins rather than maintain status quo. I think they will be right outside looking in again.

Though, a lot of non ranked teams ahead of them receiving votes also lost this week including Drake, St. John’s, Georgia, Dayton, Maryland, so maybe close.

Torvik has them as about 14 point underdogs. FWIW, that is the lowest Duke is favored at home the rest of the way in the ACC.

Duke could go 20-0. I dont think they will but its not impossible.

Torvik predicted Pitt by 10. Dont know how close that was to the betting line since I do not wager.

Maybe being un-ranked again will give them extra motivation? who knows

I've always wondered if covering counts in the NET, as we lost ground when we didn't vs Cal
Point differential matters - Kenpom had us favored by 20 vs Cal and 13 tonight

Our NET should stay the same after this game

Kenpom has Duke 14-15 over Pitt

I don’t see Pitt cracking the Top 25 FWIW but WVU could

Too many teams to jump this week. I don't get why our ass kicking at MSST dropped us completely off the radar in the polls while other teams with similar performances had a much smaller drop, but it is what it is and isn't very important ultimately

I’m seeing more beat down losses (like Pitt at Miss State) across college hoops in what should be tighter games. Oregon got annihilated at home by Illinois last night, Oklahoma got crushed by Bama, etc. I can’t imagine 1 or even 2 losses like Pitt experienced are going to matter in the long run as long they aren’t against a Q3 or Q4 team.

I'm not sure if it's a result of all the transfers causing teams to need more time to gel or something else, but it does seem to be happening more frequently for some reason.

I'm just glad I don't need to care about its impact on the polls as a fan

It would be nice to see our score more on the ticker in Top 25, but that's just for an old guy who grew up with 4 channels.

WVU will make the top 25 today, I have seen ballots having them in the top 10
Very few have Pitt listed FWIW
NET 15 today as Kansas made a big jump (11 spots) routing UCF

The Oregon treatment is the one I’m interested in seeing. Pitt literally dropped 15 places in one poll after msu, and has been penalized since. It will be absurd if Oregon only falls to like 16

We are getting unfairly raked over the coals by a bad loss to Miss State, which is the definite outlier to this season. We beat LSU who is an SEC team. We boatraced WVU but have not gotten as much credit for that as we have losing to Miss State.

And none if it matters. NET is 15. Devries has to be National Coach of the Year. I didnt know Hansberry didn't play at Kansas. I knew his son didn't. Didn't have 2 of their best 3 players. Only had Small and straight-up bums. I'd like to see UVa or Syracuse or someone like that come in and hire Devries away.

WVU had better wins in Gonzaga and Kansas (both top 25). Pitt has a top 25 win (WVU), top 25 loss (miss state) and loss to other receiving votes Wisconsin. The Ohio State win is good for metrics but not as strong as other. LSU also fading. Win tomorrow and it is a moot point. I would have Pitt in over Utah State, etc. Rankings dont matter as you can prove it on the court in the end. With that said, just avoid an 8-9 seed in the tourney.

College is a guards game & Pitt has Good Guards even without Dunn & more so with him.

There’s no doubt Duke is talented, but let’s not forget they’ve played a total of 10 games together. I’m not sure who said it, Howland or Dixon, but the best thing about Freshman is they become Sophomores! Experience counts & Pitt has the edge here too.

Durham is a challenging place to play, but Coach Capel will have them ready & winning there last year will eliminate some of the jitters.

Pitt 68
Duke 63

If we keep Duke under 64 points, I’ll be shocked, stunned, flabbergasted, amazed!
