He's not good enough to have played for Pitt though, at least according to some "experts" on this board.
This season he is shooting 51.8 percent from the floor, 51.1 percent from three-point range, and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. He is pulling down 3.4 rebounds, putting up 7.5 points, dishing out 4.3 assists, and snatching 1.3 steals per game on just 24.6 minutes per game.

McConnell was in the class of 2010, and I think he committed to Duquesne relatively early. When does the statute of limitations expire on discussing missed opportunities for recruits?

Never, we reserve the right to wallow in our own misery forever. I mean, every other school out there gets every recruit they want, especially local ones, so why shouldn't we?

He did commit early, and Pitt never had a shot at him. The post wasn't a shot at Pitt, it was a shot at the posters on this board who were so dismissive of him when he was playing well at Duquesne. You know, the "no player outside of the BCS 6 is any good" crowd. The same folks who tried to argue that Jermaine Dixon was better than Aaron Jackson (not even close), when if Pitt had had Jackson, or Jeremy Chappel of RMU instead of Dixon in 2009, we'd have been in the Final 4, and maybe won it all, but of course those guys were no good, because they didn't play in the Big East, at least according to those brainiacs. These were the same folks who got mad when brain dead Big 10 fans questioned the ability of Shady because he played in an "inferior" conference.

I was sitting behind the bench next to the tunnel the other day and told him he should have come to pitt as he was walking out. He smiled and kept walking.

When it comes to blasting Pitt the time limit is endless. This is troll heaven

I remember I was blasted because I said RMU's Coron Williams would have helped Pitt. So he transfers to Wake and averages 10, not a star, but a decent P6 player playing in the NEC

Hell, one of the best current players in the ACC was playing at RMU 3 years ago. Players get missed all of the time. Some don't play in the AAU circuits, and aren't seen playing against top talent, others have late growth spurts, or may have had bad games during the times high level teams are watching them, and were written off as mediocre. This happens at all levels, which is why Tom Brady, and Antonio Brown were 6th round picks. If you look at the 1st team all conference in a league like the NEC, you can be assured that all five of those guys could play in the ACC. Would they be stars; not most, but some could start in the right spots, while the rest would certainly be in the rotation for some ACC teams. As you go up the ladder to better leagues, you get more of these players. If you took the 10 best players in the A10, and put them on Pitt's roster, we'd be debating whether or not we could cut down the nets the first Monday in April. The top leagues have the most good players by far, but they don't have all of them.

That and his transfer to Pitt was blocked
Did RMU block Marcquise Reed from considering Pitt? I know the schools aren't on the best of terms so it wouldn't surprise me. I mean, if he went to a formerly sad sack school like Clemson, it's hard to think he wouldn't have considered Pitt 3 years ago.

That's exactly it. No way was Duquesne going to allow McConnell to star at Pitt. And when he was originally recruited he was 5'7", 130lbs and looked like he was 12. Look, I am all for blaming Jamie where it is deserved, but this is not one of those times.
Jamie deserves zero blame here. Everhart was in a position to take a gamble on the kid, and it paid off. Had he not signed early, he'd have had a lot more schools than Pitt offering him. When to offer/accept is a guessing game. It always has been.

Once TJ committed to Duquesne his father (kudos to Tim) made sure he he did not go back on his word. And yes I know that first hand.
