Signing Day hasn’t started yet, but Tuesday was a pretty busy day for Pitt, with two new transfer commitments, an interesting new transfer offer and one departed transfer finding a new home.

- The first news was the commitment of Clemson defensive end David Ojiegbe. A four-star prospect who ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the state of Maryland and the No. 17 weak-side defensive end prospect in the nation signed with the Tigers in the class of 2023.

He only played 11 snaps over the course of two games as a true freshman this fall and entered the portal at the end of the season. While Ojiegbe picked Clemson over offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, N.C. State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Washington and West Virginia, he honed in on Pitt pretty quickly once he went into the transfer portal.

Ojiegbe took an official visit to Pitt over the weekend and announced his commitment on Tuesday.

- A few hours later, he was joined by Oregon State tight end Jake Overman. A three-star recruit in the class of 2020, Overman played in every game over his first three seasons with the Beavers, logging more than 700 snaps during that time. This season, he appeared in Oregon State’s first four games before announcing his intention to transfer, thus preserving a redshirt and seemingly granting him two years of eligibility (2024 and 2025).

In his 37 games played, Overman caught eight passes for 70 yards. He run-blocked on more than 500 of the nearly 800 snaps he played with the Beavers, according to Pro Football Focus, running a pass route on 166 snaps and pass-blocking on 100 snaps over four seasons.

- Also in the evening on Tuesday, Pitt offered a position that many have hoped to see the coaches target this offseason:

Punter

After a year of punting that varied from inconsistent and unreliable to downright bad, the coaching staff identified VMI punter Jack Culbreath as a possible solution.

Culbreath served as the Keydets’ primary punter for each of his three collegiate seasons. Over that span, he punted 199 times and averaged 42.9 yard per punt. He also put 46 of his punts inside the 20 and force 45 fair catches against only 14 touchbacks. Culbreath also had 38 punts of 50 yards or more, and only one of his 199 punts in three seasons was blocked.

Since he announced that he was going into the portal as a grad transfer in late November, Culbreath picked up offers from Arkansas State, Portland State, Georgia State and Mercer.

- Finally, one of Pitt’s departed transfers found a new home on Tuesday as defensive end Samuel Okunlola announced his commitment to Colorado.
