Twyman to NFL Draft

Would've been awesome to see this full defense play together but he's a first-round lock and one of the best interior defenders in this draft. Let's hope this is the start of a long and successful NFL career!

wonder if he could be a potential 1st or 2nd rd target for the steelers, especially if they lose Heyward.

Best of luck to JT! As stated above it would have been great to see the entire D with JT. Obviously you don’t replace a player with the talent of JT but we do have nice depth.

Should there be games I can see a starting DL of Jones and Weaver at DE with Camp and Alexandre at DT. If you recall Alexandre played DT as a Frosh and he is big enough. He can also switch back out to DE similar to what Camp did as a Soph when he played both spots.

Camp has a lot of talent and was our best DL in the VA game before he got hurt. We have the 3 Sophs who all got PT at DT last year in Danielson, Bentley and Green. You have RS Frosh in Nelmes and Jules who switched to DT.

But the guy I think has lots of potential and could make an impact is RS Frosh Kancey. I recall an interview at last years bowl game with Saleem Brightwell and he was asked about who stood out as a Frosh and the first guy he mentioned was Kancey. He said no one can block him in practice. Partridge also praised the kid saying he is super quick off the ball and has a chance to be special. IMO he will eventually pass up the 3 Soph DTs and be in the rotation.

Ya know. I felt like we might dodge the opt out bug but it looks like we arent that fortunate. I really do wish him the best and I guess I'm not sure how much he could have improved his stock. Is there any chance this was a bad decision and others who decided to play and have fresh tape and coaching pass him up on draft boards....I guess we will find out? The real question is are there more to follow him and what does success on the field actually mean in this opt out driven landscape?

Best of luck to Twyman. Caused much havoc in his stay at Pitt. The Pitt fan in me haha, is sad to see this, but he's gotta do what's best for him and his family. First and foremost. I hope he's a 1st round pick, but I'm not so sure. Yes, I like the draft and am making guesses lol.
Next Pitt DT up in the rotation.

We should give #97 to the best DL on the team. Turn it into a tradition. Donald - Twyman - Who’s Next?

I think the DL will be fine. Not as good obviously. It just hurts depth for a DL that isn’t loaded with young 4* players ready to fill the void. If we can avoid injuries, still a Top 15ish DL.

That would be cool but besides the best DL it has to be someone who has an unbelievable work ethic like Donald and JT.

The best DL on the team is Jones. A legit argument can be made he was the best last year as well as he was great against the run and graded out higher than JT. Hopefully JT is a first round pick (2nd at the worst). But the one area he could have helped his stock was against the run. Surprisingly his grades against the run were average.

Also as a follow up to what I said in my post about Kancey, I don’t expect him to dominate as a Frosh but I think he can be a pass rusher from the DT spot with his quickness and speed. When it was reported he could not be blocked in practice he was doing this on the scout team against the starters such as Morrissey and Hargrove which is impressive for a young guy.

Kancy would work part as a situational 3rd down pass rusher from the middle.
I’m not convinced he is ever going to be able to hold up as an every down DT at his size. There just aren’t many of them.

One of the factors in Twyman coming to Pitt was Donald, and he changed his number because of Donald. It could be used as a recruiting tool, but you are too dumb to realize that.
You are living in a fantasy world .
He had 1 good season at Pitt, lets crown everyone !!!!!!!

The average high school recruit has no idea who Twyman is, let alone will be one over by being next in line for the number.

We shall see. He’s up to 275 now at 6 FT tall so he’s pretty compact and powerful. With our depth no one will play every down. Camp will get the most PT and then it will be a deep rotation. Plus today’s game is about passing. Partridge preaches for his guys to rush the passer every down and seek out the run along the way. And Partridge knows a thing or 2, I don’t think he would have given the kid such high praise if it was not warranted. Anyways he will only be a Frosh and even JT was nothing special as a Frosh so it will probably take him time.

I still think Alexandre could move back to DT like he played as a Frosh so we can get our best players on the field.

It’s not really true that today’s game is about passing. It’s about versatility. Teams are spreading you out and forcing you to make a decision between the pass and run, and then attacking the other option when you make your choice.
You keep him out there in an everyday down role and you’ve made the choice for the team already. It’s going to be a handoff on the RPO.

6 feet, 275 is small. And physically he’s maxed out. He puts on anymore weight than that and it’s going to come at the expense of what he does well.

But there’s a lot of value in being a situational player. He reminds me of the DT that South Carolina used in that role (his name escapes me at the moment). I’m just not sure you can ask him to do anything more than that role, much as Muschamp didn’t ask anything more.

You see its people like you that put others on pedestals and idolize them , and when they make a mistake , you are the first "dumb" person to chastise.

Seems he has to take care of family issues. He can now sign with an agent and get some cash, if that’s what’s needed.

He will be a 4th or higher going to make a lot of money. Not a bad decision since the season is a crapshoot and he really isn't going to improve his stock much.

I wonder when guys like Lawrence start opting out. So far it's been too d players. They will be missed but are replaceable. A top QB isn't. Who I feel bad for are guys like Weaver and camp. They either play, assuming there is a season, or they have to come back in 2021 because they need to show they are healthy or they won't be drafted at least not until very late.

Sucks for the rotation but, I will never, ever, never, rail on a kid making this type of decision.

He's got one shot at this. Coaches make million$. Schools make million$. Venders make $$. This is his chance to help himself and his family.

Go train like a crazy man, get to the NFL and get yours. That's what I say to Jaylen.

Hail!

Don't know his family situation other than what's been written by media, but he needs to do what he thinks is best. Probably a round 2/3 guy which will bring a nice contract.

Best of luck to him.

These guys should be eligible for some type of NFL Supplement Draft now. Stupid for them to wait a year to get paid

Hate to see him go, but I almost never blame a guy for leaving early (Chris Taft, maybe?). A guaranteed paycheck of that size, even for a few seasons, can set someone up for life. And while a college education is great, you can get it in your 30s whereas you're rarely playing a professional sport past 35.
