Tyreese Fearbry to Pitt? Not so fast!

PSU is the leader…

Ok then....

If anyone has a "mind-blowing experience" on a recruiting visit, I'm not sure I'd want that player. That's just weird. What could have been done on a recruiting visit to get one's mind blown? Did he not expect that the school had a football team and was in total shock that they not only did have a team but also had a stadium, weight room, and cafeteria?

I am sure Jimmy Franks pulled out all the stops for him since he is from right here in the Burgh. It is another chance for him to put it to coach Duzz. I also would love to have him, but, he doesn't play a position of need. That said, I hate when our local players decide to play for Ped. ST and the gameday buffoon, MILK-DUD.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't jimmy Franks have female escorts at vandy chaperone his recruits around. Maybe his mind being blown might have some literal interpretation here???

Yeah, how dare a 16-17 year old kid get excited about a billion dollar program rolling out the red carpet...

Drugs and women?

Yes. Then one got assaulted. Then Jimmy tried to smooth it over. Then State Penn hired him. He had the resume.

Actually smoothing it over might be a little too kind if memory serves correct. I seem to remember jimmy instructing his players to delete a video of the said incident and then he personally called the victim while in the hospital to "wish her well."

I also remember TD defending this man as if he has a person relationship with Jimmy franks.

You think Pitt should stop recruiting him?

What's he supposed to say after a visit?

I have hard time believing they'll lose this kid to Piss U. I'd be more concerned with Auburn if I didn't think his name was already on the football in Duzz's office.

Of course he is going to say nice things about a school that just hosted him. He has strong ties to our coaching staff and many players on our team. I am optimistic he will be a panther.

After reading the PGHSN article, I’d say he was saying more than just “nice things” You may be right that he will end up a Panther, but’s going to be a fight right down to signing day

Yea no kidding. If there was no differentiation there wouldn’t be much reason for anything other than a quick visit. It’s pretty moronic to think there aren’t levels to recruiting visits. And on top of that there’s the dynamics of personalities and personal interaction.

lots of schools did this, even organized thru the school. female university groups that had the responsibility of showing the campus around to recruits and coincidentally enough, they all were good looking..

campus recruiting hostesses. the orange pride, group for Ok state did it, guarantee every sec school did it. this isnt that unheard of sadly enough.

It went a bit further at some of the schools but yes, common practice.

now that's sleezy. im pretty open to the "perks" of recruiting but man, to actually have an organization thru the school, using attractive co-eds to show high school football/basketball players around and probably encouraging flirtatious (Or more) behavior. that's just flat out sleezeball stuff..

and where are the dads here? what are they thinking if this is what their daughters are doing.

The bottom line is you are absolutely insane if you have a chance to have Charlie as your position coach and you walk away from that. Don't just listen to the Weavers and Jones, listen to every kid that plays for him. Look how he has a track record of developing projects let alone highly rated DL. If you want to play in the NFL you are absolutely crazy to pass up the opportunity to play for him.

Yes but it is not like PSU has been a desert in producing NFL players, especially high picks at that position also.

mind-blowing? It was a recruiting visit. This kid is a weirdo.

Kids are impressionable. It doesn't make them weird. If you heard Chris' recent podcast, he predicted that PSU would go all out to get Fearbry for a number of reasons. Not necessarily because Franklin thinks Fearbry is a can't miss prospect. He just loves to go into western PA and take a highly recruited player that Narduzzi wants badly. That's his big motivation.

Give google a shot on this. There are numerous examples. I mean, Louisville was actually hiring women for that purpose when they got busted.

That's the worrying thing. There are only a handful of schools that have sent more DEs to the draft over the past 5-10 years than PSU and Pitt certainly isn't one of them. Don't have exact updated figures, but ESPN did Position-U after the 2019 season and PSU came in 3rd behind Bama and Clemson on the DLine.

Let’s just say I have a fraternity brother that works with the wpial and has a lot of pull so if he does decide to commit to a certain pedofile institution in the middle of nowhere that said fraternity brother will be getting a call.

Those were usually the girls who showed up at the parties where the football players were. I dont think they were forced into those groups.

Not one word was printed about Penn State being a desert. The point was there is not a better position coach coaching DE in college football right now, and that is not my opinion that is what NFL scouts are saying about the techniques that the kids are using at Pitt. I will print it again, you are absolutely insane if you are a DE and you have the chance to he coached by Charlie and you pass that up. The young man has every right to pick what school he wants to attend and he is a Pittsburgh kid so I will root for him to be successful if he goes to PSU, but if your goal is to make it to the NFL you are insane to pass up the chance to get coached 3 or 4 years by Charlie.

I agree - Charlie is a great DL coach. No better tutelage if his goal is the NFL. Hopefully he chooses Pitt.

we pulled 4 star recruits from other states. Some kids want to get away. Some kids need to get away. Some kids need to get really far away.

Peachy Paterno has been know to have that effect.

Anyone who didn’t learn a very long time ago to never pencil in a particular high level local prospect to Pitt despite all the “it was amazing” BS after a visit is probably cognitively impaired or moderately to severely delusional. That said, it works both ways. I wouldn't pencil him in to PSU either based on nothing but his post-official superlatives. It's all just lip service until they announce. I'd guess Pitt is still very much in contention.

We sometimes forget how compartmentalized some kids are. I mean Fearby grew up in Pittsburgh and lived here all his life. And until he actually visited the UPMC facility, he didn't know that Pitt shared it with the Steelers. I am not sure exactly what this says (aside from the pandemic limiting visits) but you would think..........a hometown kid would have known this. These kids live in their own little worlds and when they get exposed to something knew it is "mind blowing" in some respects.

No disrespect to Charlie but PSU isn't exactly blowing the talent they get. 6 kids getting drafted at DL or DE in the last three years isn't too shabby.
John Scott Jr is their current DL coach who just started recently. Your argument holds no water. He couldn’t hold Charlie’s jock strap in regards to knowledge and development.

If this kid wants to go to PS, then it is what it is. But there is a reason Saban tried to hire Charlie.

It's just words brah. These guys always have to gush to local media about the last place that gave them an official. Standard recruit etiquette.
