Uh oh

I don't think Tim Beck would go from OC at OSU to OC at Pitt. That would clearly be a demotion, regardless of the money involved.

Yep. Kiffin to FAU means Canada to LSU. I think Pitt should match the $1.3-$1.5 million that LSU will offer but I can't see Canada choosing Pitt over LSU for the same money. You can believe what you want but LSU is a blue blood or close to it. That's as big as it gets for a coordinator.

You're usually wrong, so that means Canada is staying.

He is "Co-OC" and he's only making in the $600k range. I think money could speak loudly to him as well as having full control.

-You see Mark Dantonio or Chris Peterson getting bought out for a higher program with resources? Nope. They are content with where they are. You need to find the right head Coach for the right fit, then work down the assistant chain. All those powerhouse schools have been after Peterson for years and he gave all of the them the middle finger with their blank check offers.

-Every person is different. You couldnt pay me top dollar to live in the Southeast. I hate everything about it down there and wouldnt even visit down there let alone live there.
Hahaha at everything, but mostly at anyone paying you even remotely close to "top dollar" for anything.

On that note, Canada professes to be a beach bum, and has made no secret about how he'd love to live on or very near the water. I assume this includes the storm surge from Gulf coast hurricanes down in Baton Rouge.

Lol...yeah, not really many beaches in the direct area though they are only about a two hour drive away.

Then we offer more, or else just stop playing football. Lock him up and enjoy the ride.
Yeah, we don't have the resources to be able to set the market, and never will, for salaries. Plus, I certainly wouldn't set the market for a coordinator who isn't a very good recruiter. Maybe LSU is willing to do that. They certainly would be bucking the trend of the most successful staffs/programs.

-If he likes the South so be it. Ill stick with the West Coast. I mean I feel bad for the guys living down in Mobile or Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Canada can come out to Santa Barbara sometime. Perhaps make a future trip to USC. Blows the doors off the Southeast, but, thats me.

I'm sure you are killing it compared to the coaches making several hundred thousand (worth at least 1.5 times what it would be in LA) and living on Lake Tuscaloosa.

For once, I don't disagree with you a bit. But it will be the money that talks to Canada, not the geography.

-It equates perfectly because I edited the original post. Meaning I operate a small business for enjoyment. I do not need the money pal, Thanks.
1. No, you didn't edit it.
2. I'm sure.
3. If you did run a small business, it is great people can do that, even when they clearly are not college educated.

Congrats?

Stating obvious but...He'd be dumb not to listen. And he can easily leverage this into more money.

He has said he's very happy here so hopefully it works out. If not, next man up. I think Pitt is becoming more attractive so that will get a better pool of candidates then previously.

Orgeron and staff will not be able to overcome Bama, therefore they will be fired in 3 short years if not sooner. And that's a fact. So if Canada wants to earn big money for a couple years as an OC so be it. Most of us would probably do the same thing.
