It's amazing to me these guys who are so fortunate to make millions by playing a game just keep squandering their careers. He has had season ending injuries the past 2 seasons which seriously affected the Steelers' Super Bowl chances and now this. Shame.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is facing a four-game suspension for violation of the NFL's drug policy, sources told ESPN's Dan Graziano.

The suspension is the result of a missed drug test, not a failed one, sources said. The reason it hasn't yet been announced is that the appeal process is still going on.

Le'Veon Bell has averaged 119 yards per game from scrimmage since entering the league in 2013, highest in the NFL.
No date for Bell's appeal has been set, though it's expected that it will be heard before the start of the regular season. If it's not overturned, he would miss the first four games of the season.

Bell was suspended for the first three games of 2015, which was later reduced to two games, for a violation of the policy on substances of abuse after he was arrested for marijuana possession and DUI in the summer of 2014.

It's not unbelievable. It's quite believable. Not even a little bit surprised. Combine youth with the likely special treatment these elite athletes get their entire lives their mentality/perspective is quite different than mine.

Ugh.....I was thinking that maybe he used something to allow himself to heal and rehab his knee faster but since we did not hear anything I thought it was okay......I guess not

Seriously, 2 seasons cut way short by injuries plus 2nd drug suspension?? No way this guy should be signed long-term. That would be a colossal mistake. Had enough of him.
"Right on brava!!" Dump these losers!!!! HTP/Forever!!!

I can't believe it's gotten this bad for me, but F the NFL! I'm so sick of the micromanaging BS, from all the stupid new rules every year, sitting through the BS replays, suspending players left and right for minor this like smoking weed which is legal in 17 states, I seriously would rather watch soccer anymore. Hard for me to believe I feel that way, having been a die hard Steelers FANATIC for almost 50 years, but I do. Sure I'll still watch every Steelers game and Pitt game I can like I always do, just that my excitement level is next to nothing because of things like this.

instant replay in nfl has made it impossible for me to watch it "real time." I wait an hour or two, DVR it, then watch where I can fast forward the instant replays. Got too painful, every close play, every scoring play, every catch (did he make a football move).. Only tough part is you got to turn off your phone, cant answer texts from buddies about game.. Not perfect but it turns a 3+ hour game into about 90 minutes, tops..

It is not really "unbelievable" if you think about it
The sad truth is that for some people, Cannabis does have addictive properties. Not for all people, but certainly for some people.

People peddling the "you can't get hooked on marijuana" line are either misinformed or are naive. The latest research indicates that 9-10% of users are "cannabis dependent".

Who cares, it's sports. These guys are not interviewing for a job with me, not trying to date/marry my daughter, not hurting anybody but themselves.

Perform on the field, entertain me and help my team win. Once you start to harm others...then that's a different story.

If he isn't hurting anyone or receiving an unfair competitive advantage, then I don't see the problem.

I do that too, but I only start like 15-20 minutes late, I just don't care at all about any of the pregame commentary, analysis. anthems or ceremonies, so I turn on the DVR, fast forward to the kickoff, tip off, face off, whatever, and just watch game action, always FF through commercials and any reviews.

THIS^^^

I think it's just another example of Goodell & the NFL trying to portray how "moral" they are. No other sports entity is as obsessed about "policing" their people as the NFL is. I think it ruins the product to be honest. Taking great players off the field ruins the quality of the actual game product, and for what? What do you gain? Some bible thumper gives you props and brings their 10 year old to the game? yay

Well, the players did agree to this in their CBA....

I'm surprised it's that low.

Actually, good for the NFL. Maybe people will eventually be conditioned into realizing that being a knucklehead or a hooligan doesn't you anywhere in life or benefit society at all.
Probably naive thinking on my part, given that Jameis Winston was the #1 overall pick last year.

Tell that to LeGarrette Blount, gets kicked off the team for bad behavior (again)- and wins a Super Bowl with NE. And Bell wants $15 mil???? Looks like we will be looking to draft another RB:(

That's your opinion. I watch the NFL to be entertained. To me it's the SAME as a rock concert or sitcom! I don't want to see the Stones if Keith Richards is suspended for drug use! Or I don't care if someone like Charlie Sheen is making me laugh on TV right after smoking crack! IMO it ruins the product, meaning the game time between kick off and the final gun, I don't want to watch the 2nd and 3rd string RBs and WRs play, I'd rather see the stars who smoke weed out there. It's just entertainment, a show, nothing more.

Well, I am also talking about things other than pot, and athletes further down on the totem pole.

Lol...Yeah it has been a slow process.
It does appear that his antics have cost him quite a bit of money over the years at least.

Someday they will learn and figure out whether they want a career worth 10s of million or ... Smoke dope.

Oh wait
They'd rather smoke dope , they're dope smokers that's what they do.

Well the idiot can't stay healthy or eligible, why pay the moron? Only a dummy would support thid is idiot. Congratulations, dummy!
He is a fantastic player and you wouldn't even save $1m. It would be the dumbest release in the history of the NFL. You would have to be a complete moron to think cutting him is a good idea. Hell, the Steelers are probably going to pay him $13m next year.

Seriously, just from a talent position this is just insanely stupid. When you consider the cap and your options to replace him it makes me wonder how you have the capacity to figure out how to turn the computer on.

He's an idiot and a distraction. He's undependable and can't be counted on-you get rid of trash like that before his attitude spreads!

Some people get addicted but it is by far the least addictive drug around. NFL will hand out opiates like candy. The hypocrisy of the anti cannabis people is ridiculous.

Smoking pot makes you a hooligan or knucklehead? I bet you drink though. The hypocrisy continues.

Not doubting what you say, but the law is the law, and it was agreed upon in the collective bargaining agreement. LeVeon Bell, more than anyone, knew the rules. If his cannabis use is more important than his teammates and his NFL career, then he's made his choice known.

Personally, I love pizza and margaritas. But if given the choice between pizza/margaritas and millions of dollars, you can bet that I'd pick the money - every time.

Lol....nope on that front.
And I really wasn't focusing on pot with the hooligans and knucklehead comment. Though, as someone else said, it takes a real knucklehead to choose that over millions.

Oh I agree but it's still very hypocritical.

True. Just so hypocritical of the NFL and government for it to even be illegal. Cops won't have their easy money making arrests to go to anymore.

These guys have to grow up. I get high school and even college kids smoking weed but these are grown ass men. Isn't it time you outgrow this?

Legalize all drugs. Tax it. Provide treatment centers. Our war on drugs is a joke and is killing our society. Too many people in jail due to this.

Legalizing cocaine would be interesting, héroine would be a disaster no clue what the hell barbituates do. We are an over prescribed country as it is. 1/3Rd of our youth is on some sort of prescription, any kid with energy is diagnoses with ADD and instantly féd pills, every crazed shooter is on anti depressant message that did the opposite. Think it's time to relax on the drugs, they arent working.
