It's entirely up to the search committee. Pederson's the boss, so he'll probably show Barnes the zoo's Dinocat exhibit and convince him that the torch cut font is necessary to succeed in today's world. I heard rumors that they're changing Pitt to Pittsburgh, too.
I was addressing a point in time (1997's Midnight blurple)... agreed the blue is, well, bluer, and the gold has crept away from the Pederson original puke green. But not by much. For gads sake some of you are arguing with yourself...we do not use Midnight Blue or Vegas gold and haven't for years now... The current color scheme which since it's on basically everything new the university has put out ( emails locker room team film room D Lawrence building) is not the same as 1997 the year Vegas gold and midnight blue were introduced. The blue has become significantly lighter the gold has become more matte and less "gold" the helmet is different.... I expect the colors to remain with a .4th option of colors from the 70s but not the design... I won't complain either and if they are doing what I think generally it's going to be pretty cool.
This combo is good. Visible blue and a tawny gold.![]()
This is the current color scheme, which looks great. They need the helmet and pants to match, though. The current helmet looks greenish in certain light, as one of you made note of.
How about a sublimated Panther Cub spotted pattern on the jerseys of all freshmen?Do you realize how many shades of color and types of Panthers there are? ( answer:many)
No I know but others keep referencing today as if it's the same scheme as 97? It's not. I think the only way to match entirely is to have a different helmet that has no metallic at all...right now it's less than 97 but still somewhat metallic.. It's just easier to match more primary colors in fabric and plastic..I was addressing a point in time (1997's Midnight blurple)... agreed the blue is, well, bluer, and the gold has crept away from the Pederson original puke green. But not by much.
Since every one is a fan of mustard gold, it looks like Pitt compromised and went with Honey Dijon Mustard Gold, ....I love it![]()

it's not so much about the helmet, which I believe has become more "gold" or less metallic. I like the more Mustardy or even yellowish outside of that bright ass metallic look..Since every one is a fan of mustard gold, it looks like Pitt compromised and went with Honey Dijon Mustard Gold, ....I love it
The more I look at it the more I am convinced the helmet has been toned done alot.....if they can match the pants with the helmet like in your James Conner pic, then I think they might be onto something......Let us all hope
there is a pic of Whitehead mid game, at Heinz, the helmet is very "golder" or mustardier than normal. Look below, that helmet DEFINITELY looks different than the ones I posted above..The more I look at it the more I am convinced the helmet has been toned done alot.....if they can match the pants with the helmet like in your James Conner pic, then I think they might be onto something......Let us all hope
What I am talking about is the "shine" for a lack of a better term, you don't need sunglasses to stare at the helmet
You are correct. This is midnight blue and Vegas gold and it's not what Pitt football wor just last season
Hopefully Grey Poupon, at leastSince every one is a fan of mustard gold, it looks like Pitt compromised and went with Honey Dijon Mustard Gold, ....I love it
keep that helmet, find out what color ND uses for their pants and use it and who cares how dark the blue is. Purple, blue, black, its cool. I swear, our pants match ND's helmets and their pants match our helmets.. They should just swap.. Not sure if nike or adidas would be too happy though..That's exactly what the gold should look like, regardless of how lighting effects it. I think it would be a good idea to go back to white numbering, though.
