What a surprise. We are having a hard time getting guys with multiple years of eligibility to play for a lame duck coachCan not see this ending well
Is Heather surprised? What a surprise. We are having a hard time getting guys with multiple years of eligibility to play for a lame duck coach
Are you surprised?Is Heather surprised?
What a surprise, we are having a hard time getting guys period. Hard to believe we actually were able to get three so far, 2 of which have multiple years of eligibility. What a surprise. We are having a hard time getting guys with multiple years of eligibility to play for a lame duck coach
So everyone knew we would be unable to recruit and we decided to just blowoff a year of rebuilding to save money? Are you surprised?
You know the answer. It’s money. And you also know she can’t come out and say that. And you also know most everything (and maybe everything) was AD speak.
Stop being phony.

Above not meant to be an endorsement of JC, just pointing out how comical your repeated refrain is. But I know not long down the road from hear, you’ll have a few ‘I told you so/SMF is always right’ posts on this. Congrats!
Based on his history (and an added flaming hot seat) why would anyone reasonably think that all the sudden he’d be able to recruit effectively? So everyone knew we would be unable to recruit and we decided to just blowoff a year of rebuilding to save money?
There was no compromise that could have been reached? None?
The AD said the hell with the team and fans for the year, BUT some expect boosters to come through ANYWAY with NIL money? Right.
Pitts big money guys obviously don’t have enough juice to rid themselves of JC !Based on his history (and an added flaming hot seat) why would anyone reasonably think that all the sudden he’d be able to recruit effectively?
As far as compromise I would think the only one would be for Capel to take less than contractually obligated. And why would he do that? He’d be a fool.
And I do agree about the NIL. Why throw good money after bad? I guess that’s the easiest way out but I get the reluctance for big money people to be hesitant. Especially if they want Capel out.
I’m just going by what I read. The university’s own website article on the signing says he has 2 years of eligibility remainingI think this is Hinson's last year.
18-19 FR
19-20 SO
20-21 DNP Medical RS
21-22 RS JR (DNP his decision)
22-23 5th year senior
How can be play in 23-24?
OK but how? Is he getting 2 medical redshirts? I dont see how. Perhaps they can say his 20-21 injury also caused him to miss 21-22?I’m just going by what I read. The university’s own website article on the signing says he has 2 years of eligibility remaining
I don't think boosters like him, the thought of buying a player who may help them win 2 more games than the team would win without him makes them shudder with the fear of yet another year or two. What would be the harm of coughing up a few 100k to get him 2 or 3 quality guys and if he fails with them then he’s gone and if he succeeds you’ve saved everyone a lot of money .
No matter who the coach is, my tea leaves say that all basketball players who can dribble and chew gum at the same time are gonna need to get paid SOMETHING. I don’t know what the NIL floor is, but it’s not going to be $0. Whether/when Capel stays or Capel goes, either way you need warm bodies on the roster and you may as well try to get some decent ones for the $$$Pitts big money guys obviously don’t have enough juice to rid themselves of JC !

I’m sure the boosters would like him if was putting up 25-30 win seasons ., we’ll maybe not just ask Jamie !I don't think boosters like him, the thought of buying a player who may help them win 2 more games than the team would win without him makes them shudder with the fear of yet another year or two.
Just my best guess.
I don't understand the rule on that. He was injured during the Covid year and didn't play. So why would he get to use the 21-22 year as a "Covid year?" This doesn't make sense:He gets a Covid year.
Covid years are not transferable. 20-21 did not count as a year for anyone’s eligibility, basically their eligibility clocks froze. He didn’t redshirt. The eligibility clock started back up for last season, and that was his redshirt year. If you don’t look at 20-21 he’s still doing the regular “five years to play four seasons” thingI don't understand the rule on that. He was injured during the Covid year and didn't play. So why would he get to use the 21-22 year as a "Covid year?" This doesn't make sense:
18-19 FR
19-20 S0
20-21 RS injury
21-22 quit Iowa State but gets to use it as Covid Year
22-23 5th year junior
23-24 6th year senior
I thought every player no matter what that was a FR or older in 2020 gets a Covid year.I don't understand the rule on that. He was injured during the Covid year and didn't play. So why would he get to use the 21-22 year as a "Covid year?" This doesn't make sense:

OK, that makes sense I guess. I'm assuming he'll graduate in April and transfer again though for his 6th year instead of playing for the new coach.Covid years are not transferable. 20-21 did not count as a year for anyone’s eligibility, basically their eligibility clocks froze.
