…..w/ 5 & a half minutes remaining approx.. This is what utterly had me going apeshit the moment I saw us go into dual TE & knew that we advertised to UMiami that we were going to run straight ahead & that they would get the ball back A.S.A.P.
This told me & continues to tell me that this staff has utterly NO confidence in KP being the onfield leader capable of finishing this game.
Coach Narduzzi's insane explanation that he did not want to stop the clock is pure BS as w/ that much time left who the F--k cares. A single first down should have taken precedence, a second first down would have allowed the O to finish the game on the field.
But we just forfeited even attempting to finish the game on our terms & allowed UMiami to determine how they wanted to end this game.
I do not care if 20 more receivers drop a pass right in their arms you call plays & if they are open that is where you throw the ball. Allowing fear of a dropped pass to open receivers to dictate how you finish a game is like giving the opposing team extra defenders.
The D did everything & more to win this game. KP despite the many drops by receivers is nowhere near the playmaker that a player of his experience should be this far into his career. Too many times inside the redzone I watched him take the snap only to have a predetermined receiver to whom he was throwing the football & on every occasion that was the wrong place the ball should have gone. He continues to telegraph passes to receivers never once attempting to try leading DB's away from prospective targets that would allow for big plays.
QB is by far the most crucial player on a football field in todays pass happy, big number scoring game. Everything is designed for a team to score TD's all the way down to how officials call games. Every QB gets sacked, every QB see's pressure, every QB has bad games but most QB's continue to put the ball into the endzone.
Why is it our staff did not believe KP had it in him to get us a first down by going to the air. They never even tried faking it w/ a wide open offensive pre snap look. That had to be a huge confidence builder for UMiami. I know it had the opposite effect on me up in the stands as I said to myself " we're going to lose this game".
H2 PITT !!!
