Lane was on the radio this morning. Basically, he was blasting EVERYONE. They asked who he would hire for his "dream" staff. Lane said he would hire Saban as his DB coach....

So story is Currie had agreement with brhom. Failed to get the chancellor approval on offer. Had to come back with a lower offer. Brhom passed. Onto doeren. Currie continues to find ways to screw this up. From reads here in Knoxville, brhom hire would have saved his job. Now, deadman walking.

Considering how much money they have and they cannot afford Brohm, find this very difficult to believe.

Sounds like they have a President who is too good for football, combined with an AD who doesn't know what he is going when it comes to hiring coaches. Hmm. Sounds familiar.

So the Tennessee President isn't going to pay for a good coach. Good luck with that. Should work out really well for her in that state. What's ironic is that they will end up losing more money then the additional amount it would have cost to just hire Brohm. They are going to end up hiring some mediocre also-ran.

Is Mick Leech still available? He could save them.

Am told #Tennessee AD John Currie's intrigued with Mike Leach but the WAZZU coach having sued his old employer is a tough one for him & the #Vols to get past.

Leach sued Texas Tech claiming that the school still owes him money. Leach coach Texas Tech 2000-09. Leach was fired in 2009.

Leach would likely be a very good hire for Tennessee. They won as much as you can with Hal Mumme at Kentucky, arguably the toughest job in the SEC. And now he's a big enough name it'd be a splash hire for recruits too.

I think it has more to do with they think he's not worth all they have to spend. He would be their 5th or 6th choice at this point.

They got themselves into a cluster$&ck of a situation where they will have to really overpay for a coach. They need a head coach more than a current head coach needs to leave.

Would Duzz be interested in that dumpster fire at this point , saw a few of their posters bring his name up

Wow......isn't this much like the PITT search for graham? An AD that mangles the search......and Pitt having to cough up a "stupid tax" to get Graham to come here?

Now......Tennessee will absolutely have to pay a premium just to get a warm body.......

While coaches love money, understand money isn't the only thing coaches look for to leave one head coaching job for another.

Right now, who the hell wants to work for an AD that will likely be fired, having a deal inked with Schiano and the fans and legislators ending it, and knowing that publicly they are at least the 6th or 7th choice? Throw in the fact that the expectations there are extremely high and unrealistic. I wouldn't be shocked if they ended up with a coordinator at this point; like Tee Martin. That may appease some of the fan base by bringing him back.

They started off by thinking they could get Gruden. Let's see where they end up.

The UT fans are like the village locals in "Hoosiers" that asked Norman Dale what defense he prefers during the meeting in the barber shop.

Not only does a coach not want to work for a AD that is going to get fired but why in the hell is Tenn still allowing Currie to lead this search? Unless behind the scenes he's not really involved anymore.

They could fire him and bring in Fulmer to head up the search and serve as interim AD.

no, the UT fans are the consumers of the product...What business works by pissing off your customers by bringing in something they do not want because you think you know better.?... Schiano was "new coke" never being released on customers that never wanted it in the first place.

If he did, would you be upset? That would seem questionable on his part. It would probably also mean it’s time to shutter the program if he leaves here for there after all the mess that went down.

So when businesses are selecting a CEO, CFO, or someone, you and I should make that decision? That doesn't happen in any business.

Why not Spurrier?

After all you can’t spell Steve Spurrier without the spUrrier and the sTeve.

Sorry, that was a real reach on my part.

Steve Spurrier, from Johnson City Tenn and a huge Vols fan growing up.

On a side note, listening to the radio, Clemson has 6 seniors on the team this year. Dabo said mostly freshman and sophomores.

Cmon guys, was making a bad play on words on the old Spurrier taunt about Tennessee. “You can’t spell Outback without the UT”.

This has just become comical at this point but can’t say they don’t deserve it and they’ll get someone to take a chance realize they expect you to win the SEC East in two years they won’t and they’ll be gone in 3 years and start this nonsense all over. Truly sad for me to see what they have fallen to. I just hope they are still a mess when Pitt heads down there in a few years.
