It was the MLS acadamies plus around 100 other "elite" private youth clubs. I dont think there were any in Western PA. Seems like MLS didn't want to play those other clubs anymore, wanting better competition as being one reason. What most people don't know since the US is knocked all the time for its "pay for play" setup is that the MLS academies do NOT charge tuition/fees. However, they start at the U12 level which is too late. So I wonder if the fact that they were playing "pay for play" clubs played a part in their decision to leave the USSDA.

I don’t know much about the boys side, but this is great news for anyone who has enjoyed the girls ECNL circuit. On the girls side, I can tell you that most college coaches are ecstatic about this. Most have little regard for US Soccer’s development model, and while most college coaches aren’t recruiting HS soccer games, many have been appalled that US Soccer told DA players that they couldn’t play HS soccer. On the girls side, this will have minimal impact and might actually open up some additional under-age national team opportunities to late bloomers who aren’t on the radar at 13 years old.

The USSDA was for boys mainly. They just started the girls league in 2017. The girls really dont need anything. The best female athletes play soccer.

As always, you find a way to simplify it down to such a level that it can’t possibly elicit a legitimate response.

My daughter plays ECNL. No idea how it will impact girls ECNL, but boys ECNL adding former DA teams already.

Something like 15 former DA clubs on the girls side just added 7 non DA clubs to form a new DA league. Beadling in western PA is one of the new 7. That’s a good thing I suppose. This new DA allows HS participation.
