After thumping Purdue, VT loses to ECU today. Good or bad for Pitt? Is Va. Tech not very good or after a loss do they come out hungry against Pitt? Despite beating Ohio State, they were not a very good team last year. It looked like they improved this year, but maybe not. Either way it's a big game for Pitt just based on the fact it's our conference opener.

Well, Purdue isn't very good.
ECU is a harder read. They barely beat Towson, then hung tough against Florida. Navy thumped them.
It looks like ECU's backup QB - who is more of a runner - did a lot of the damage.

If nothing else, it should show that VT's defense has some vulnerability; that Pitt won't have to try to win some 10-9 defensive slugfest.

I would say that Paul Chryst coaches 1 good game in 3 years. It was against VT last year when he had Voytik run that read option play a bunch of times. VT looked very bad against the ECU spread today and their QB ran for a ton of yards. Makes me wonder if we ahould have started Voytik. He is 1-0 against them.

Im still picturing a 14-13 game unfortunately.

I have zero faith in Cheany and this terrible offense right now...

Very nervous going against a VT defense that usually plays well at home.

Va Tech looked awful vs a maybe ok at best ecu. Ecu had 182 rushing va tech tackled like crap and had 11 penalties. This is year 5 now they are ordinary.

PITT just needs to avoid early turnovers against VT. Play sound football and they will win this game; sames goes for the UVA game. Voytik should be a great option against this very aggressive VT defense, however, he has not been very good at running the read option so far this season.
