OT who visited this last weekend tweeted today that his commitment will be coming “soon.” That is not necessarily good or bad news for Pitt.

He visited South Carolina the prior week, and said afterwards that he would make his decision after visiting Pitt. He is crystal balled to South Carolina by all of the Rivals recruiting analysts and I believe by 247 as well (not sure). He has been retweeting every announcement of a commitment to South Carolina for a couple of months, but hadn’t retweeted any of the commitments to Pitt this past weekend.

If he does pick Pitt, it will be an illustration of how well the staff and players did this last weekend in convincing recruits that Pitt Is It. If he goes, as generally expected, with South Carolina, it will show that we just had too much ground to make up.

I finally have a source again (after many years without one) and the two names he gave me as likely additional commits from this weekend are Taylor, the OT from Ohio, and Parrish, the RB from Florida. He wouldn’t talk about the rationale on Taylor, but expects Parrish to commit after his official visit to FSU.

Ultimately, we might get more commits out of the weekend, but those are the two he predicted would be committing soon. He also said that fans need to remember that some of these kids are competing against others for spots in the class: With two LBs committing this weekend, some others projected at that position may no longer have committable offers. We had two WR prospects visit and another is due this weekend; we probably would only take one even if all three wanted to commit. A player who projects to more than one position, such as WR or DB or LB, has a better shot than one who doesn’t.

Id take Taylor and Parish.

Good post Mike.

Enjoyed your posts from way back. Glad you have a ‘source’ again. Keep up with the info.

much appreciated Mike for the info. the Taylor guy coming this weekend has some solid P5 offers.. hope we can get him.

At this point CB to PITT
Is it just my unique combination of middle age and lameness that the refrain from the Styx song "Crystal Ball" immediately pops into my head every single time I read that term about a recruit? Every single time. Dam all of you who use it.

Branson Taylor (I assume that's who you mean) seems more to be leaning Pitt.

I'm not sure I'd be too down on losing Lee. Certainly not a disaster. It seems like Pitt is in the fight for some guys that have a better list of offers this year. So yeah, they might lose a battle or two but they also seem to be battling, and actually winning, against schools they haven't been beating the last few years.

Need a few more OL in the class. Almost have to take at least 3 every year, some years more.

I'm very happy with this class so far. I think my only compliant is some of our marginal prospects that we took in the class of 2019 and 2018 are tying up scholarships that could be better used this year. 14 is not a super small class, but with the roll we're on I'd love to Pat and co. have 3-4 more to give out.
