UNC fan here, first time visiting Heinz field for a game, my Tar Heels and your Panthers on a Thursday night in November.

How low is to low to sit in the stadium to still have a good view? Thanks.

P.S. Any other pointers about gameday will be helpful thanks.

My seats are in the upper deck and have a great view. If you are in the lower half upstairs just about any angle is fine except the end zone bleachers. I don't like the lower bowl at Heinz at all. I think it is too shallow. Sit as far back as you can. Aftermarket tickets should not be a problem..... if you stay at a downtown hotel, take the subway (T) to the stadium. It is free.

Yeah, further up in the lower bowl is always better IMO.

Honestly, you'll be able to move around and find good seats so don't dump a ton on premium tickets unless you want to sit in the club.

Enjoy the trip and if you have any other questions stop by here!

I concur with most others to avoid the lower bowl. Best bet, shop for discounted club seats along the sidelines.

I'm sorry, he didn't finish his sentence, enjoy your drive thru Wild and wonderful west virginia.
If you do come up thru WV, don't stay in Princeton. But if you do, avoid the Super 8 off I-79! With its dumpster of feral cats!

Just have fun and holler down.. I'll be on the NC side.

Just my 2 cents... I sat in row P on visitor sideline of the lower bowl for many years after having upper deck sideline row C seats for first 3 years of Heinz opening. I know some upper deck guys are passionate about their view of the field from higher up, but I was not among them. Lower bowl is easily a better fan experience IMO and the view of entire field of action and play development from row P was never an issue or us at Heinz.

I sit 7 rows back on the 50. Great seats imo. Only the first 3 or 4 rows have obstructed views on the near sidelines.

Why would anyone stay in a Super 8 anyways?? I stay at the Hampton right off of I 79. It is not great guns, but decent. I have like 5 customers in that area.
It was on the way from a thurs night Va Tech game ... our group had consumed a slight wee bit too much at tailgate, then were starving. Nearly had hit deer multiple times on the road. So stopped there, first just to get food, decided just to crash. It was right off the highway near the Subway or whatever we stopped at.

There was a 24x7 porn/ liquor/ convenience store there too. The dumpster with the feral cats was conveniently between the two places.

Go the speed limit in West Virginia. That is basically their primary source of revenue. Well, that and meth. Be especially careful around the New River Gorge Bridge. That’s one of the most infamous speed traps in the entire country. They even got me once and I never get pulled over for speeding.

Stay off 119 and just use I-79. Speed limit plus 6 is easily safe on 79 or 77 in WV.

Thanks guys. Planning to stay in Pittsburgh, drive up early on game day. Any close restaurants you would recommend in close proximity to stadium?

We thought of getting low to field but outside the 30’s like section 107 Row B. View looks good online, but low to field obviously, but we thought since outside where players stand we should have a good view of field.

Thoughts?

You will have the jumbotron to catch any missed action. That said, you won't be able to see the near sideline opposite of your seats.

Honestly there isn't a bad seat in the stadium only individual's preference.

I used to sit in Row A on the 45. It was great but Row G or H is better imo.

Thanks. Look forward to the trip. We try to catch one road game a year, preferably to a new stadium.

If you can afford it stay on the Northshore.
You park your car, check into your hotel, walk to the game, go to bars, restaurants, without touching your car until you decide to leave.
But it's probably booked!
Except people cancel so if you keep trying sometimes rooms open up!

The other good option is the Hyatt Southside.
They have a shuttle to the game, they usually have availability, room rates are reasonable, and its nice area with things to do.

There aren't any bad seats in Heinz field IMO.

If you are planning to arrive early, or stay a day or so later, here's a stop that's worth checking out.

This is a compilation of things from a Syracuse fan from back in the Big East days. Most of it is still relevant, although some is dated.

It gives a pretty good overview of Pittsburgh, as a visitor.

19 is absolutely the way to go. Saves about 45 minutes of driving. I have done that drive 5-6 times a year for 20 years. Do follow the speed limit when it goes to 50. Keep it under 55.

Someone coming from North Carolina to Pittsburgh shouldn't be anywhere near 119 in WV.

119 in WV shouldn't be a route anyone would consider taking traveling from the central or eastern part of North Carolina.

From Chapel Hill it would be 40 to WS; 52 N to 74 W, then merge onto 77 north into Va. At Wytheville, Va (always stop for gas at Wytheville - it's the least expensive place along the way, by far) take 77 N to Beckley. 19 N to 79 south of Weston. I 79 the rest of the way.

They've raised the tolls on 77 to $4.00 at the southern toll stop, and .75 cents at the northern stop. Cash, or EZ pass only.

I assumed it was a typo for I 19

I think they meant 19

don't know if its faster but it's easier. 19 has stoplights, less predictable on/off traffic, and things like the Summersville PD.

Maybe. I'm usually cruising through that stretch at 4 am on my way to Florida so I don't see much in the way of traffic or cops.

Geeze let's not scare him away! We all know driving thru "almost heaven" can be adventurous. Bring your passport and don't speed.......er....god speed

Nice route...

You ever stop at The Secret Sandwich Society in Feyetteville WV?
