Louisville is the more talented team and we ran out of gas. Pretty simple.

Yes, over three matches against them this year there were a total of 12 sets played and Louisville won 8 of the 12 (@Pitt 2L-3P; @Lou 3L-0P; & @ NCAA 3L-1P). They were clearly the better team this season.
Oh....I didn't realize this. NA's Paige Morningstar plays for Louisville. Daughter of ex Panther BB Darrin Morningstar.
Wait... A former Pitt football player in a suburban district sends their kids to a different school to play sports? I shocked.
Actually, the only surprise is that it wasn't Penn State.
I will post this in the olympic thread too as maybe someone there will know…but the difference in the match for me was the contrast and production between Scott #19 (their libero) and our libero. And then of course the rotation when Dabeer was serving. So my question is —does anyone know the the overall score for when Dabeer was serving and we got stuck in that rotation that killed us? By my count they we spotted them 15 points at the start of 5 sets with her serving and that doesn’t count all the other points throughout all the games. We we able to get a couple kick side outs with her serving but not very often.
In the fifth set I think we got our first point after they scored the first 8 or 9, so Debeer lost her serve then. I thought the biggest difference was that they had an attack that we had no answer for all match, whereas we did not have a "go to" attack nearly as effective -- their back row attack by Debeer (and sometimes by the other girl that I think was #9). Debeer was deadly from behind the 10 foot line, it was unblockable by us.
DeBeer is an outstanding player all around, but an exceptional server.
Our back row was having difficulty handling her serves, and that sets the table for disaster. If you don't get good first hits, then you're stuck with simply getting the ball over the net.
That gives a team like Ville the opportunity to run their offense.
It makes blocking much easier too.
DeBeer is one of the best VBall players in the country, and is just a junior. Remember she played that game on a bum leg!
Would't be a bit surprised if they win it all. Texas is good, but Ville is a great blocking team, and it looks like DeBeer can carry them over the finish line.

Agree our libero was much worse than Ville's and it showed. Seems she's only a Sophomore and just got the Jersey so I'm sure she'll get better.
Far from a VB expert, but to dumb it down for me... Dabeer's serve, Ville Blocks, and Claire Chaussee's spiking absolutely killed them. They adjusted to Dabeer's spiking, but they never had an answer for Chaussee.
I think there should be a concentrated effort to keep any … ohhhh you know… hypothetical possible big booster truck company dudes away from any decisions regarding PITT volleyball at this point 😂

Correct if they were way better it would have been straight sets
Frankly pitt gave away the 3rd set - although credit to Louisville for rallying - just like Pitt did in the 4th.
Louisville and Pitt split the regular season matches .
Louisville played as well as they are capable of and Pitt didn’t defend the serve well enough
Last year Nebraska honestly seemed to be on another level than Pitt - of course having so much size helped
This year - it was really a coin flip
Cold comfort but progress is being made
