First loss to an OOC in 6 years.

I didn't get to see it as I was at the football game, but yikes.

Not sure how this team is as compared to the past couple years but they were pretty dominant against UT tonight,

Can you buy those sideline chairs? Would love to have one.

First time catching a game in person this year. I guess Lexis was hurt earlier, but she was back today. We are very tall outside with Dalton and Buzzerio, they will be a force as the season goes on. Browske has become pretty good at her position. Hard to imagine how they would’ve lost to Towson, Tennessee just looked miserable trying to serve receive and set up their offense.

It’s funny- Towson might be quite good. They’re undefeated- beat other majors and mid majors East Carolina , Rutgers, Princeton.
I missed the match , but I’m told they were impressive - had one player with a devastating serve . It’s possible they go undefeated in their league.

not saying PItt shouldn’t have won- but might not be as bad a loss as it would appear.

thought PItt was excellent last night - really outclassed Tennessee. They couldn’t handle our service and we played very clean - just 2 service errors and few hitting errors .

I thought they looked pretty good last night. It seems like they have their new rotation defined with Akeo back.

There was one interesting spot in the rotation last night where Buzzerio rotates back to serve when Fairbanks rotates into the front row attacking position. I am not sure which of the two is technically the setter there. As soon as that offensive possession ends, Buzzerio subs out and Akeo comes in as setter.

There was also one time where Fairbanks was attacking and Akeo was setting and Fisher subbed in Ennis as serve specialist, so we really had 3 P5-level setters on the floor at the same time. Just staggering depth that he has accumulated.

I don't know if we can beat OSU, but I think we'll give them a good fight. The crowd was pretty good on Friday, so I am hopeful that it might be a special day at the FFH.

One other comment about serving. I thought it was pretty odd that last night Fisher had both of our MBs serving. I'm not sure if that was practice, or if he really thinks Nwokolo is a better server than Browske? Same goes for the example above of Buzzerio serving instead of Akeo.

I think last night was probably also good evidence that Ennis will be the designated serve specialist and Fisher does seem to like pulling in Klika as defensive specialist.

Yeah - Klika subbed late in the 3rd set for Dalton to stop a late service run by Tennessee- the serve came right at her and she passed it well for a kill / side out that effectively ended the match .

Browske continues to play really well when I’ve seen them - she seems much improved from last season-

FWIW, Towson was second in the "others receiving votes" in the coaches poll this week, so essentially 27th in the country.

Like you said, Pitt should have beaten them. But it's not like we lost to a low level team that stinks. They make the NCAA tournament most years. Last season they took a set off of the nitters in the NCAA tournament, and a couple seasons ago they won an NCAA tournament game before losing to the nitters in the 2nd round.

It was the equivalent of losing an ACC match to one of the "second level" teams.

Was happy to see Pitt beat TN. One thing I noticed that will improve as the season progresses is a few easy points given to the other team by not communicating, and letting easy balls fall between 2 players. The setter needs to get the 2nd ball or yell help or something so that the other players know to go after it. It's so strange watching them play with no Lund or Ndee. H2P

First time seeing them live in a bit. Definitely a lot bigger than we were when I saw them live in Malibu back in 2019.

It's not always pretty, but they targeted Dalton all night & she bore it far better than I expected, minus that one lull where they brought in Klika. She could be insane with another few years developing under this staff. Wazzu lost a good one.

Buzzerio was virtually automatic, save for the last few points of the match where Tennessee was fighting for their lives. Lucky to have her.

I love Fairbanks' versatility, but she's a far better passer than attacker.

No Starks - Fisher wasn't joking when he said this was likely his deepest team. I would've been surprised if you told me she wouldn't be a part of the rotation two years ago. Hell, Anastasia Russ is currently tied for 15th in the country for total blocks at Maryland & was an afterthought here.

#6 for Tennessee showed Leketor-type explosion a couple times. Impressive.

#4 Wisconsin, #6 Minnesota, #7 Georgia Tech have all fallen this week. Here's to hoping we add #5 to the list tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Funny - knowing nothing about eligibility- #6 for Tennessee looked like a player I would target in the transfer portal if she chose

I have watched a couple of games. Pitt dominated BYU at BYU. Towson at Pitt, Towson was every bit as good as Pitt. I still believe there is room for substantial improvement with this team. There are lots of things that individual players do well. Last years team was better than the individual parts. This year team, the individual parts are better than the team at this point. I have faith that Coach can make this happen but it is a work in progress.
