Vt may stink - but why has DJ turner not

Gotten more reps early in the season ?
Guy has been dynamic
I get with Addison out his role increased - but they have to both be on the field
He plays the same position as Addison. Turner has been great in that role with Addison out, but not so much out wide.

He reminds me of those shorter WRs that New England always seems to have and make a ton of plays, at least the college version.

Turner had one other big game early in the season then disappeared for some reason. Couldn't understand it.

Probably has more to do with Yellens play than anything else. It’s quite remarkable that he showed up Late Aug. and has been this successful. Would love for him to come back another year!

Agreed but that kid wants a chance to earn some money; he has a new born to take care of.

Because Pitt plays both Turner and Addison in the slot. I agree that he should have played more and move one of them out of the slot, but they haven't. Turner's 2 good games were when he played in he slot for Addison .

Blah blah blah it's a win for goodness sake. Some of you are miserable as well trolls.

When Pitt loses, Pitt stinks.

When Pitt wins, the other team stinks.

Same narrative from some on a consistent basis. Before the game, there were those giving Pitt little chance to win for a variety of reasons.

EVERY Pitt win is worth appreciating. Especially conference wins. Hard to understand those that don’t. What makes them happy?

Pitt played VERY WELL yesterday. On both sides of the ball with a bunch of key guys out. But I suppose to each their own.

They absolutely did

The context was simply vt’s defense has Stunk
But turner was dynamic and they failed to find a way for both him and Addison to be on the field at the same time
Hence the juju and dionte comparison

We all have our own perspective.

I think for approx 90% or so of CFB teams it’s a week to week thing.

So citing a team on a particular week for “stinking” therefore means little to me. They almost all stink at times and then play well at others. Wisconsin yesterday is a good example. Their offense “stunk”. Does their team “stink”? We’ll see.

Every team has to line up and play on the day the game is scheduled. One team ALWAYS wins and the other loses. That’s all it boils down to.

Maybe he should have been playing ahead of Addison
I get they play the same position but are they not that interchangeable that u can utilize both? Does it have to be one or the other???

they are the two most talented wrs on this team, figure out how to play both.

I don’t disagree, but if they’re not going to do that Turner should have been starting.

If we start turner and bench Addison, start guys like shockey, Wayne and mack instead, I’ll help Addison pack his bags and leave this program immediately.

The receivers that should be on the field (now that we are going empty a lot) and play the majority of plays:

Addison, Turner, Wayne and Barden

Sit Mack, Shockey and Tipton

Tipton needs to move on. Seriously. We need the scholly. I’m sure he’s a great guy but enoug is enough.

Pitt can find another option for a 5th or 6th wr option. If it hasn’t happened by now, it’s not happening.

Going empty you could still have five wide receivers on the field so you could still play Shocky. With the four you mention you could still have a running back or a TE in there.

They have been keeping Vince Davis on the field in empty. Sometimes he stays empty and sometimes he shifts back as a protector.

I like that.

IMO - Shocky is not that good. Drops too many. Very seldom really open.

Oh I’m certainly not touting Shocky. But of the ones you listed I think Shocky is better than Mack or Tipton, both of whom are very inconsistent . That’s all I’m saying.

You can do that, but quick and shifty guys who play the slot usually get covered by a 3rd DB safety or LB, so it is an easier matchup. Turner has not done nearly as well when covered by a corner and not playing the slot. I would actually use Turner in the slot and Addison out wide, but Pitt has chosen no to so that very often.

If Addison was OK with it, I would shift Addison to tailback.

He runs hard, makes people miss and a lot of what he catches are flat type passes.

I was gonna say, I think Turner is the one actually built more like a tailback and could be a better fit (although I agree that moving either of our slot receivers to RB is unrealistic).
