VT Trip Suggestions

A group of us are looking to make the trip down to Blacksburg on 9/30. Does anybody have any suggestions on best places to stay (closer to stadium/things to do/places to eat best), as well as places to eat and things to do.

You will have trouble finding any hotels close to Blacksburg, this late.
Roanoke is a wonderful little city; great restaurants and a downtown
street fair on Friday nights. It's about a 45 minute drive from there to Lane Stadium.
This year, I am staying in Christiansburg; which is much closer to Blacksburg
A friend, who went to Architecture school @ VT tells me its a nice little town.

Blacksburg has changed a lot in the past 5 plus years. A few more hotels and lots of turnover on bars and restaurants. Hotels will be tough to find in Blacksburg, but check out christiansburg, Salem and Roanoke. Plenty of places to eat downtown Blacksburg. Main Street has a variety of stuff. PKs is a mainstay, Sharkees, the Cellar. Gillies for breakfast, Cabo fish taco is good, Lefty’s is one of our favorites, Eastern Divide Brewery, and Maroon Door. But much has changed since I moved away. Parking is always a challenge but you can get in town early and find parking on side streets and in neighborhoods.
