Wayne Gone

Wayne is near his ceiling, so I don’t think coming back would improve his stock. He's 6'3", fast, but not a burner. He has good, not great hands. He has a big frame to be a good blocker.

What would he come back to work on? Would it offset just getting to the league and working on his game there?

He's a guy who will get a shot, but will need to step up when given a chance. Special teams in particular is where he'll need to shine and make the team as a depth receiver.

In most reports Izzy is not in the top 10 backs mentioned. A great game against UCLA may have helped.
Yeah because he played 11 games to go with 11 100+ yard games, 1,400+ total yards, and 20 TDs but that bowl game was the real key to shooting up his draft stock.

His performance at the combine will determine where he goes, the same as it would if he added a 12th 100-yard game. One way he gets an extra 3 week to train, the other he loses those 3 weeks even if he stays 100% healthy through the game.

Sometimes I wonder who are the scouts who are saying stuff like this? Or did they give a list of those 10 other backs that are better than him were?

One of my favorite players in recent seasons. I wish he were returning, but I hope for all the best for him. His height, good hands and a good highlight film of clutch catches will help. There are probably questions about his speed.

Chill with the drama. Lee never broke a tackle nor made anyone miss. Who can forget Lee running back into the pursuit against Nebraska as he approached the end zone.
And what game was it this season where Wayne tripped over his own feet twice? I distinctly remember the one where he tripped and caused him to drop a pass that if he stayed on his feet, he would have walked into the end zone.

To be honest, they are probably pretty fair comparisons to each other. Both very good players for Pitt, but not sure either has much of a future at the next level. But the main point is that I do not see how another year in college is going to help Wayne's professional football future. He probably has at least one Pitt degree by now, right? I cannot blame him for declaring now.

He didn’t go unnoticed based on AA teams he’s on. He’ll blow them away at combines and pro days.

The RB position seems to be one where NFL teams have a tendency to miss because there is a difference between college offenses and pro ones. The good thing or bad thing for Izzy, is NFL scouts know exactly who he is as a runner. He's played in a pro scheme. He gives them a great idea of what his strengths and weaknesses are. Had Jaylen Warren played at PITT, he might've been a day 2 guy instead of being an UDFA.

Cephas seems about as close to a must-get as possible if we don't want to regress on offense. We're already losing a ton of home run potential in Izzy. I guess we might get a dude from Florida today, but I can't say I was blown away by his tape. He makes Wayne look like Usain Bolt.

I'm not completely sure that he'll be drafted. Maybe a team can use him like a bigger slot guy or something, similar to JuJu.

He has some freakishly good advanced metrics. His yards per route run is in the top 6 in the country, including underclassmen. 2-3 of those guys are 1st round picks. This means he was wildly efficient against both man and zone. I think Wayne will sneak into round 5 or so.
