WBB loses to IUP

I really expected major improvement this year. It will be interesting to see if this game were a fluke loss, or a sign of what's coming.

IUP WBB lost to Notre Dame in an exhibition game this season 108-40 .... I know ND is really good ..... but Pitt may be in for a long season in WBB ..... and MBB for that matter.

SMS's brother, Tom, coaches the IUP WBB team.

What is SMS's contract situation with Pitt at present ?

I mean, their best player, Brenna Wise, transferred to Indiana, so unless you were expecting any of the freshman to be studs (and no one really looked like it today), the current roster is just not really ACC caliber, similar to the men's roster.

I will say that Garven, the JUCO transfer, looked okay hitting a bunch of midrange jumpers. But she also missed like 4 layups. And the team doesn't seem to be very good defensively. Time will tell if that can improve or not.

You're right, Breanna Wise was good, but IMO not THAT good. She was not an elite player, and although she was Pitt's best (as you correctly pointed out) the JUCO basically replaced her. My assessment was due to the number of players returning, the two recruits with decent height, the JUCO, and the return of Diop.
Since it's only an exhibition, I'll hold my judgement for now, but IUP isn't even Div1, right?
Are they Div11? Regardless, I agree....the ACC is as tough as it gets and our "current roster is not ACC caliber."

IUP is DII.

I said after Wise left that we were going to need several things of varying likelihood to all happen just to be as good as last season. Much like the men, we are going to have to wait until the team gets a chance to play together for a while to see how good (or not good) some of the new players are, but we need Diop back close to 100% (edited to add, getting Whitney back at 100% as well) and we need either one of the freshman bigs to be really good or both of them to be pretty good or it's unlikely to be better than last year.

Suzie made a huge mistake by hiring her sister as an assistant. JMO

I don't have any inside info on Suzie, but what I see in her resume should be enough
to not only recruit a whole lot better, but to also attract strong assistants, and to retain
their talent (they lost their top player to transfer twice the past few years).
Lyke, the new A.D. is on record for championship performance from our teams. I
have to believe Suzie is now on a shorter lease than before.

Seriously... SMS is the next coach to go.

AD Lyke has her hands full. Football is stable. Wrestling and Soccer trending up. Swimming & Diving is ranked.. I think?

Everything else is bottom of the ACC
Talks a good story though
