Hell, so was Nix. And let's not even talk about the cliff recruiting fell off. A losing season(s) was absolutely in the cards if Dixon had stayed. Those teams were getting eviscerated by fans.

At the end of his tenure here Dixon couldn't sell a starving man a steak dinner. Recruiting was dead. He was a great coach, but, all coaches need talent.
