We must boycott Smizik and Cook

The relentless anti Pitt and pro perv state writing and radio is so far beyond honest journalism that I'm surprised no one has seen their name in the Freeh Report in support of everything perv state. The articles by Smizik is absolutely focused at creating negative perception on Pitt Athletics and namely football today. Cook is just Tom Bradley in drag. But after all this time, a boycott of them will open up change at the post-gazette for a young up and comer. I have to believe Chris Peak for as much as he loves Pitt would be a much more fair and non bias reporter. James Santelli who has written some nice articles would be as well. There are indeed many your reporter who need to replace these fossils. BY NOT READING THESE TWO ~ THE WALLETS & PAGE VIEWS AT THE PG GET HIT. AND IN THE END, THAT IS ALL THAT COUNTS AT A NEWSPAPER.

I do not read unless someone posts here, I will not, I occasionally when in the car listen to 93.7.

I've mentioned many times and again, I'm in going to the station.

Incidentally, at the PITT hoop game I sat behind first row behind the media and yelled down to Philaphony..... "Philaphony you suck"
He did not turn around.. So I guess he one upped me....

Had need to boycott the Trb until they remove fanboy Chris Adamski from the paper. He is an enabling joebot hero worshipper...

Your hero is dead Chris.......... Old news......

Finally, after Bob's 'Vindication' published blog article and Ron's 'Bradley is better than Narduzzi' public tirade, anything from them regarding Pitt fb really can't be taken seriously. These emotion gushing rants basically neutered them.
That said, for them, Pitt is like the gift that keeps on giving in terms of handing them cannon fodder.

My final official day on the Penn St beat will be a very long one. Stick here for updates from now thru the end of 7pm The Signature Event.

You're late.

Many of us already have quit listening or reading everything they say or write.

But Pitt can go a long way toward changing things by start winning regularly.

Losses to Y-town State, Akron, and their ilk make it waaay too easy for the Pittsburgh Trolls who masquerade as sports writers.

Yes, it is their fault. Pitt fans are amazing. You guys aren't any different that Penn State fans. You expect media to LIE to suit your interests. Both guys said PSU has out recruited Pitt. Not sure where the anti Pitt bias is in that statement. Cook has even poopooed this day saying "see me in 3 years".

I've been very critical....

But I listened on/off (more on) this morning and they both seemed very reasonable re: Pitt. Having said that, during a discussion of "Who's the most honest - Franklin, Narduzzi or Holgerson?, Andy said "Clearly Holgerson". I actually almost spit out my coffee. But for the most part, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable they both were in regards to this signing day.

Re: I've been very critical....

I heard a bit of that. I think they meant who's the most "honest" in the sense of who's the most "candid." Which explains them going with Holgerson... Holgerson is pretty candid about the performances of his team.

Go Pitt.

Well Holgy is more honest if you take into the fact he seems to have less of a filter in his comments. LOL

Anyways, one thing that we also always criticize the local media guys also serves us well on days like today. A lot of old school sports media guys, especially guys like Cook, Savran, Smizik, etc....think the hubbub over a HS kid deciding where to play football is absurd and ridiculous. And to have press conferences even worse. And as they always point out, the Pro Drafts are crapshoots, so how accurate is these rankings? So they don't take much credence in it.

In many ways, that is refreshing and benefits Pitt. In other ways, it also shows how NON college sports centric this region is.

So it is good and bad, but you are right, Cook especially has been very balanced today.

I think the word they should have used is "unfiltered". The word "honest" was cleary misused. But, yeah, I did see the logic in Filliponi's argument. It is still very funny on the surface though.

Re: I've been very critical....

I heard some of an interview with Sam Werner about the Pitt class. Sam said that Pitt failed to address the problem of their "defensive line." He mentioned that DT Howe followed Chryst to Wisconsin and said that Pitt did not replace him.

Sam - Pitt does not have a problem at defensive tackle. The problem is with the defensive ends. Replacing Howe is not a big deal.

The losses of Givens and the other DE - forgot his name already - could be big, but also could be negated if a guy like Shane Roy or Hez Trahan turns out to be a player-maker... Or if Ejuan Price plays a full season. Here's hoping...

Go Pitt.
