1. No true identity
2. Doesn't appear to set up plays for later in the game with plays run early on
3. Weird substitution patterns! Especially with rbs
4. Passing routes! Watched plenty of them from the stands. So many passes had each receiver running the same depth of pattern. For ex. 3 receivers in a pattern all running 10 yes patterns or 15 yd or 20 yd patterns. Very few pass plays with different yardage for wr
5. No bombs attempted again to try to loosen up defense! How many games go by without us even attempting a fly pattern?
6. Running outside jet sweeps, tosses etc to short side of the field!!! This hasn't worked all year for us!
7. No draw plays! Again, something little to slow up a pass rush

Chaney is the weak link here. The defense was ugly in the first half, but did enough to keep us in the game!

After the punt block, Chaney calls after the first down run of 5 yds were hideous.

Pretty good post. Chaney is most definitely the weak link. Between Pitt and the Steelers, combined they've probably thrown the ball less than 10 times this season on first downs. Not only does he run jet sweeps and mostly every play to the wrong side of the field, he's too predictable and even the jet sweeps are not catching anyone off guard. Also to take your point #4 a step further, most third downs there is not a single receiver that runs a route past the first down marker. I've never met the guy personally, but it seems to me like he's like a lot of people I know. Very intelligent person, just no common sense.

I think it goes without saying that Chaney hasn't been very good for us.. Losing JC killed us though, absolutely killed us..

No question, but if Conner were healthy I think Chaney would just be getting criticized even more. Second half of last season our offense was as good as any in the country. With Conner healthy I would think the offense would be held to about that same standard. On top of that, they've decided that Peterman is an upgrade over Voytik. So if they would return the same main components of the offense, and upgrade the QB position, there would be no excuse at all for the offense to not light up the scoreboard every single week. Unfortunately with what Chaney has shown us, I'm not even convinced he would properly use Conner if he were healthy.

Why wasn't Ollison in there after the blocked punt, he was in there the next time they were close and he rammed it in.
