What changed for me last night

I’ve tried to be a realist this season . I really didn’t think Pitt could win a conference game this season even with Ryan . Without him there’s really no chance . The losses didn’t bother me because I expected them . I’ve never totally blamed KS because any objective observer had to realize that Jamie left the program with only two non senior players .
( Cam and Ryan ) When Cam jumped ship this season was shot . None of the other players who left were difference makers or really ACC level type guys.
Without a truly dynamic front man or recruiter Pitt continues to struggle getting the type of players they need to compete as next yrs class shows . Even with growth and adding RL and Ellison and the new recruits Pitt won’t be much more competive next season . They’ll be better , but nowhere good enough to compete .
I’ve stated that these freshman are the best class since A&Y and they are . The problem is they just arent good enough . BC spotted Pitt 15 pts and then they decided to get serious and there was no contest from that point on . These kids will get better , but I finally realized that these guys are all complementary players and unless Pitt can start recruiting program changing players nothing will change . KS will not recruit those type of players to Pitt . It’s time to move on .

These players will get better. But what gets overlooked is that so will the other players in the conference. And the gap will likely increase.

Contrary to popular belief, players do not always get better. Some of these guys are already what they are and others will regress. But the point of the post is spot on. Pitt simply needs to bring in better players than what they currently are and that is going to be very difficult when you can't win a conference game and get destroyed in every one of them.

They will get better - but I fear their ceiling is just that of a team we usually kick the shit out of.

I mean, are we supposed to be happy at 6-10 next year in the conference. That’s absurd, and even that is optimistic.

It just needs blown up, we need an energetic hire that will bring this programs brand back, and bring in talent that also knows they play from day 1.

I love PITT...and I watched most of the games this year. And I appreciate a lot of the efforts. But collectively they just aren’t good enough.

But the flip side....an energetic hire can turn this around quickly. It only takes 3 or 4 guys in basketball.
