What did Young sitting out the final 15 minutes mean?

Not sure. Thought it was curious, not sure if he was sick or tweeked something. But Jamie had ample time to put him back in and seemed comfortable with all other options.

Just found it curious. Anyone else have any thoughts or explanations?

He left with 3 fouls and there was no need to put him back in.

If a similar tack was followed on Wednesday, the outcome against UL mightve been different.

But Young played generally well yesterday.

Trying to read between the lines in your response. So you are insinuating something.

I think Young has a tendency to want to take over a game and not play "team basketball".

Even yesterday he had two turnovers.

But ironically, he defended Ingram pretty well when he was in... much better than he's defended all year.

I just think Jamie realized we don't need a player trying to "do too much" on the offensive end resulting in a Duke run.

Young is a black hole. The ball goes in to him and rarely comes out... the possession will end with his miss, make, or turnover 90% of the time when the ball goes in to him.

I don't think Jamie was punishing him... so much as staying with what was working and not messing with it. Something that maybe Jamie learned from Wednesday.

I'm not sure if it was his final play, but he got yanked once after a bad offensive sequence where he took the ball at the top of the key, made a move that went nowhere, and took a poor jumper. It was bad, and I knew immediately he would be spending at least a little time on the bench.

We built a 20 point lead without him on the floor in the last 10 minutes. We found a rhythm and it was working., Why mess with it?

I thought Young did a nice job yesterday, wasn't quite as selfish as usual, hit the glass and ran the floor hard.

agree! everyone played well yesterday and we played very good team basketball on both ends. I thought Mike played well yesterday, so I don't think we need to make something out of probably nothing. Does anyone know if Dixon was questioned about this in the postgame?

What?? Of course we do... This board is all about hating on any little thing any Pitt hatin loser can think of.

He has looked like a guy that got pneumonia a month ago and gets totally winded at times even a month later. Just a guess but I believe his legs have been shot because he can't breath and it's taken a toll on total conditioning. He has messed around with those compression leggings which tells me his legs don't recover quickly which tells me he has been shaking off some kind of Viral Bug that lingers.

No leggings yesterday so maybe he is close to 100%.

Just a hunch.

To tell you the truth the team was clicking so well that I really didn't notice.

I guess Jamie feels the overall play of the team is more important than a certain individual.

I agree with your thoughts - coming out of the game a couple times yesterday I thought he looked like he was moving as if he had just completed a marathon...

Go Pitt.

Of course Jamie sent a clear message to Young and Artis. I suspect after the Ville game that Jamie was kicking himself for calling a time out with 8 minutes left (Pitt up by 8 and with momentum) to substitute Young and Artis into the game. Both Young Young and Artis proceeded to take bad shots, caused multiple turnovers and Pitt went down in flames. Hopefully Jamie moves away form coaching by the numbers and his coaching moves will now demonstrate awareness of what is going on in the game (I can't stand his "paint by numbers" approach to substitutions). I hope Jamie realizes that if the 5 guys on the court are playing well (no matter who the 5 are) --LEAVE THEM IN.
Last point, Young is extremely soft and is a drama queen. Every time he is pushed or someone bangs into him he acts as if someone committed assault and battery on him. Same thing with is tendency to look as though he is exhausted all the time. Quit making excuses for this guy. Pneumonia??? My God, sometimes you guys drive me nuts.

Jeter did a pretty good job on Ingram (especially since he had to sit for a stretch with 4 fouls), too..
I mean, all you can do is contain him, same as Allen..stopping them isn't really an option.

Been saying this for awhile, he's gassed, no legs.

honestly, I didn't even know Young wasn't in there.. That is pretty telling, when you don't even notice..

He doesn't play TEAM hoops..period...he's attempting to fatten his NBA resume...that's it
