Regarding Pitzer, is Meech still in the practice room? I was just wondering because there’s literally not one heavyweight or anybody on the coaching staff big enough to really be pushing him every day and getting him better

That I agree with 100%, I don’t mind the idea of adding the weight class because then there would almost never be matches determined by criteria, but then comes in the discussion of the limited scholarships and so forth, so who knows

I do really appreciate the time and effort that you put into the articles cause it does put a lot of insight into certain areas that the fan is not thinking of, thank you for that!!
Thanks, Sikky. (BTW, I've been reading your name as Silky for three years now. Just realized it was to ks and no l.)

I was stunned when I saw he never wrestled a one-point match in high school. That's crazy.

Do away with it, The upper weights are already lean at high school and college and another weight class makes it worse.
Maybe it has changed over the last 10 years but when my son wrestled there were a lot more forfeits in the first two weight classes then there were the last two

Especially considering he wrestled TJ Stewart twice

I dunno, I see one L and two Ks lol

That scramble in the 3rd was the best thing to happen to him. Pitzer will win those positions 90 plus percent of the time. Looked eerily similar to those diving shots on Friday but hey he came out on top!
What's weird to me is that he always takes those diving shots, but he fakes a snatch single all the time, and almost every time it appears that he could have it if he just grabbed it. A non-penetration snatch single is a really effective shot for a hwt. Hope he starts committing to actually attacking like that

In high school, the 2 lowest weight classes are too small and generally filled with freshmen and sophomores. It can be frustrating to watch a guy like Dayton who is too big for 197 but too small for heavy, the problem is there are just not enough of those guys in college. I would be open to a complete shift in all the weights and maybe seeing 197 become 205 but I am not sure how much that changes anything.

I wish something could be done because the status quo allows for only elite level lighter heavyweights to win the national championship. It can happen but not very often

To be fair, there are not enough tweeners to justify adding a weight class similar to 97kg (214 pounds). Also, HWT is a very different weight than 20 years ago with it shrinking in size for a few years so there are not many guys walking around at the upper end of the weight. If you look at the current top 10 HWTs on Wrestlestat there are 3 guys over 265 (two are seniors), 1-2 in the 250+, and 5-6 below 250.

How much does Dayton weigh?
