1. I am embarrassed by this loss. We folded and gave the game away, which is totally unacceptable.
2. We as a coaching staff did not put the players in a position to win. I take responsibility for that.
3. The coaches didn't believe in the players and the players didn't believe in themselves. That will change. If we go down, we will have at least taken our best shot.
4. UNC believed in themselves. That is the kind of program we need to become.
5. I am pissed. The players are pissed.
6. Changes will be made, starting tomorrow. Maddox, Lewis, and Webb will get on with their lives' work. More talented players will learn on the job.

What I instead hear was that Chawntez Moss ran hard, and Pitt played hard. Ridiculous. Not hard enough.

This thread should be titled, "What we should have heard from Narduzzi after the OSU game."

Though I would not respect him if he called out specific players in a press conference. That's just wouldn't be professional.

He doesn't have to name anybody. Just recognize that there is a big problem and say that you'll try something different to fix it.

On board with 1 and 2. The rest are just piling on and over-the-top. Easier to accept if they played aggressively on both sides of the ball and still lost than what they did out there today..

Actually in his press conference, he said the coaches put the players in the right spot to make the plays.

He's not wrong they ARENT
MAKING PLAYS....

Like I said yesterday players on both sides made plays at times throughout the game with the exception of one group that cost the game ultimately.... Period.

“Is he a senior yet?” Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said about Switzer

Can you win a game that counts, yet?

All we basically needed was some offensive ball control to eat clock.

SOMEONE seems convinced that their DEFENSE will win games. FAIL

The press conference might have been the most depressing part of a really shitty day.

The coaches and most notably the head coach (the one we all love because he's not Todd Graham or Paul Chryst) are solely responsible for losing these last two very winnable games. They know what they have and don't have yet they insist on running the same defense and turtling with the play calling in the 4th quarter. People can say "fire Canada" ..I call BS on that. The head coach sets the tone and we are scoring plenty of points with a shitty qb. Canada's not the problem. A stubborn Narduzzi is. Watch that press conference again. Pathetic lack of accountability. What he should have said very plainly, "the kids worked their asses off today and I cost them the win. Period." That would be what every good coach would say - and it has the added benefit of being the truth.

Except then he wouldn't be telling the complete truth.

Yes, the coaches clearly could have made some better decision which would have won this game and the last one. On the other hand, there were several DBs playing with less than a complete effort for much of the game. A LB (Brightwell) had to run down Switzer from behind on that long yardage play down the right sideline. Several DBs were just jogging, apparently okay with letting Switzer take it the distance. Additionally, there were many missed tackles throughout the game. I think it would be accurate to say that many of the players played their asses off and some gave a lackluster effort. Still, the coaches had the ability to make the calls to win the game even with the players on the field.

My biggest worry is that he doesn't see the problem, that he thinks the last two 4th quarter debacles was some fluke and he is going to continue making the same mistakes.

You'll hear maybe #2, but that's it.

Even if in his mind he doesn't believe it, a middle-aged, very high paid coach should be more than willing to take the hit for his young players after a heart-breaker like that...he spoke in a positive manner after the game, which is more than you can say for ND's Kelly, but at the end of the day, the buck stops with the HC -- particularly a guy who has made his name as a defensive guru.

On the game winning drive the defense allowed NC to convert THREE 4th downs. That is inexcusable. The defense has to make a play. If they do, the game is over.
