Was planning on going to a game with my father in mid September only to discover Pitt only has 2 home games from September 5th to October 29th. This schedule is horrible!!! After a boring home opener game against(yawn) Youngstown State on September 5th we don't play at home again until October 10th??? Who came up with this nonsense??

Way too many early road games that imo ruin the whole years' schedule.

Just awful.

The ooc games were set up long ago, but agree , not sure what the hell's up with the early acc games.

Took you an awful long time to realize that, no?

I don't think Steve Pederson set up the conference schedule this year.

No but he signed the home and home with Akron. That above all is what's killing the schedule. In theory though that should turn out to be a pseudo home game for Pitt as it's a very easy drive. The school should organize some buses out there for students and take over the place.

I guess that schools like to front-load their OOC opponents. Syracuse has 4 games in a row at home in September. Not home again until we host Pitt on October 24, and then not home again until the final game on November 28 against BC.:(

Oops. I forgot that Clemson comes to the Dome on November 14.

I think most conferences want OOC games early. Probably best for all concerned. As noted, the game at Akron is an anomaly.

Yep. There's no excuse for that game not to be a sellout.

Akron is about the same distance as Pittsburgh is for me; I plan on attending, in part because I don't want to wait till October to see the team (have work for the opener).
That said, from a comfort standpoint, home games later in the season are preferable. My seats at Heinz are miserable in September.

Hosting Notre Dame in November throws off the balance also.

If anything it's a fantastic excuse to, pardon the bad pun, zip up to Canton and check out the Pro Football HOF.

Gees, the ACC sets the ACC schedule and individual schools have almost no control over that portion. It isnt like the BE with fewer conference games giving more flexibility with the OOC schedule. You have to fit the OOC games in as best you can.

That being said, I dont like playing MAC level teams on the road. IMO a P5 conference team should never have to do so.

The B1G has for years set up the conference schedule such that among each team's first 4 conference games ..... 2 will be at home, and 2 on the road. That also ensures a 2/2 split for each team on the back half.

I'd be mad at the ACC if I were a Pittsburgh fan. 2 of the first 3 OOC games being on the road is Pittsburgh's doing, but you got screwed with the 1/3 split for the first 4 conference games.

I am fine with our schedule and with Iowa and ND as OOC this year our strength of schedule is okay. Next year it is Ok St and ups.

Personally, I think all series against Div I teams - regardless of the opponent - should be home and home. If they're good enough to come and play in your stadium, they're good enough to for you to visit.
And none of that neutral site crap either.

Anyways, under the current setting, in most cases, MAC teams are demanding $1 million+ for these one and done games. Teams that draw 80,000+ for those games can afford to pay that. Teams that draw about 30,000 for those games can't.

Now, one thing I'd like to see is how much Pitt had to pay Akron to visit for the one-and-one, as compared to a 2 for 1, 3 for 1, etc.

Yeah...I don't get the moaning....and as stated...should Pitt start off strong enough it could set up nicely.

The moaning is two-fold

1)Pitt not having a home game for 34 days after the home opener is absurd. The weather is usually nice and comfortable in September and in my opinion that is wayyyyyy too long in between games at Heinz Field.

2)Even the "top tier" teams would have issues and potential struggles with playing only 2 home games in basically the 1st 2 months of the season. Sure, Pitt could win most of these games and set themselves up nicely for November BUT, on the flip side Pitt could struggle early and by the time November rolls around could be out of the mix. Also, judging by their recent history(even with a new HC) nothing suggests that this team is going to be a road warrior.

Not happy at all.

I like it. Beat va tech and Iowa and we are 6 and 1 with western pa infected with narduzzi mania. Even the pgh media would be onboard. Now we just got to figure out how to not pull a "pitt'
