College football and the NFL didn't have any. So now they only have a 6 game season instead of 8? Doesn't make sense to me.
Because if there is going to be a spring schedule that counts toward NCAA Tourney eligibility they will be limited in the number of games they can play and don’t want to be two short in the spring. I don’t know the exact number but I believe it is around 20 games that they can play combined between fall and spring.College football and the NFL didn't have any. The framework for a spring men's and women's soccer season has been approved by the Division 1 council, the regular season dates have been set, the NCAA tournament guidelines have been set (48 teams for women, 36 for men) and the College Cup dates have been announced. Now, there is still the possibility it doesn't materialize, but if you are Pitt or any other ACC school you probably do need to hold back 50-55% of your allotted 20 games to guard against the spring championship possibility. So they are saving those 2 extra games for the Spring? That seems kind of like a big risk because there may not even be a spring season. I know they are planning on it but its not a guarantee.
