Rowan situation sounds like it might take some time (can he graduate or not) to work out. Who knows how long Diallo will take to decide?

Do you wait to see what transpires with these two and risk being left with nothing but extreme reaches or do you take the first big and guard that could help next season?

I would wait on Rowan, but not on Diallo. Diallo seems like a one year guy who will leave on potential, not what he actually accomplishes. Need Rowan more ( I am assuming he is a SG, not an SF. I really don't know for sure).

They have until July 1 (start of new fiscal year) or possibly a little longer to decide whether or not to renew scholarships for the 2015-16 academic year. I don't have any information on how likely getting Rowan is (perhaps pay board?) but if he tells the staff "I'm coming to Pitt if I can graduate by August," then he will have a scholarship waiting for him without question. However, I would not necessarily "hold" any scholarships for anybody. I wouldn't take any reaches but I'd try to get any grad transfer or JUCO that can help us (or HS senior but not many left out there) and if Diallo and/or Rowan tells us late in the game that they're coming, you'd have to cut a player or 2 (Newkirk and Luther, though I like him are the most obvious). I think Luther's a good player so I wouldn't risk having to cut him by bringing in a grad transfer or JUCO that may not help.

This is the tricky part of recruiting. Coaches have a lot more contact with these kids than we know or imagine so I would think they get at least some impressions on where these kids want to end up. If they think they have a great shot with one or both of those kids I would imagine they would wait. But it's not likely either one knows where they are going by LOI day so who knows.

I would sign at least one guy, particularly if a 5th year grad student or possibly the Michigan late bloomer. We still need a center of the future.

But, if Diallo or Rowan want to come in May, June or August, I'd find room to take them. Somebody else would currently be moving on with their life's work.

^^This^^

I would definitely take a 4 year center for the long range stability of the program.
