Whatever happened to

Didn't play much yesterday. He probably had his best game of his career in the first game against us, but it looks like he averages around 5 ppg in 10-20 minutes.

Ismael Massoud?

Yeah, think that game Massoud had vs Pitt at the Pete earlier was kind of an aberration. Sort of like what Mucuius did in the 1H yesterday when he went off for 17 points in 20 minutes.

Fortunately things changed and he came down to earth in the 2H. Plus getting himself into foul trouble.

But Pitt has really struggled at times locating, closing out on and defending on jump shooters - ESPECIALLY corner jump shooters.

As good a player as he has been overall offensively - and at times like yesterday and vs GT at home he's been positively BRILLIANT - Champ, like a lot of young players has to become more responsible defensively. At times he is kinda passive getting out on those guys in the corners. Also at staying in front of dribblers. He'll learn, I believe. When he does become a complete 2-way player, he has a chance to be really good if he dedicates himself to doing it.

He is deceptively fast; a great leaper; has tremendous body control and excellent instincts. The outside shot can be inconsistent at times, but for a true FR it exhibits tremendous potential. His nose for the ball as on offensive rebounder is exceptional, too.

He is a terrific finisher for a freshman. I am consistently amazed by how good he is around the basket for a guy his size.

Agree. He has that ability to hang and then be able to maneuver and change the position of the ball while airborne; then finish by making the shot. He also has long arms that can give him the extension to reach the ball to the other side of the rim to use it as protection from a shot blocker, if need be.

Looks like it's all up to him. If he can stay healthy and really dedicates himself to improving and being the best he possibly can be, he has a shot to be something very special.

His body type, game and movements remind me so much of a young Billy Knight when he was at Pitt. Certainly not comparing the 2 because Knight did it at Pitt for 3 straight years and then was a long time, very successful pro. Champ is just scratching the surface. But there is certainly potential there.
