Back in the independent days I know we had some tough schedules, but since moving to a conference in the early 90s I can't remember a tougher 3-game stretch in September with PSU, Okie State and UNC back-to-back-to-back.
My first year of remembering Pitt football was 1984, which stands out for many reasons, not the least of which is that it was the beginning of the end of our run as a national power. That September featured an 0-4 start against BYU (eventual national champs), Oklahoma, Temple and WVU.
