The win over Cuse was an important one for us in Cuse being a rival and getting off on the right foot in the ACC.

The fact that we struggled until late can probably be attributed more than anything else to poor outside shooting, Smith 1-7 and Robinson 2-9.

The fact that we blew them off the court in the end... Sheldon Jeter. It is wild but he is a second half and particularly down the stretch player in no-uncertain terms.

Overall, we beat the spread but now the site that posts the odds for future games has us losing 7 in the ACC.... 11-7 the rest of the way and overall in the ACC.

That is not bad but it is not up to the level of Pitt teams before the CBI season. Probably would mean a 5th or 6th place finish in the ACC regular season.

We have MES coming up and then GT at home. Then we go on the road against ND and Ville and those are two games we are projected to lose. Makes winning games like the one against GT more important... get Ws there and then take your chances on the road. We have not played a true road game yet this year.

I think this team has more potential to improve from this point due to the number of players in the rotation that are new to the team or playing in new positions. But, we will see.

This is how I see it:

1. Miami
2. UNC
3. Duke
4. Lou
5. Pitt
6. UVa
7. FSU
8. ND
9. NCSU
10. Wake

All those teams make NCAAs (10, I know)
11. Syr
12. GT
13. Clem
14. VT
15. BC

UVA is quite a bit higher than 6th, probably closer to 2 or 3. Top 4 are Duke, UNC, UVA, Miami. Pitt is in a group with L'ville, ND, maybe SU. Then the rest of the field.

But it's so early. It's very hard to tell which teams will step up and which ones will fall back. A lot of time. But this Pitt team has the potential to win 11 games in the ACC, possibly more. We need to steal one from UNC, L'ville or ND on the road then beat who we're supposed to beat at home.

Miami may indeed win the conference but to say UVA, currently the highest ranked ACC team and a model of consistency, would finish 6th... to me is insane.

And Wake making the NCAAs???? Ya never know but I don't think so. Currently the 12th highest ACC team according to Pomeroy.
