Which message board Einstein said Barkley is overrated?

probably no one.

A lot of people did. Back when he was in college, I said he is going to be one of the best of all time and got scolded for that here. You could see that he was different. Very few RBs in history have had his combination of speed, strength, and shifting. He's like a video game player.

Nuff said.

I did. He was over-rated in college, and his years with the Giants. Glad to see the light bulb finally went on for him and he reached his full potential after all these years.

Also not surprising to see the nitter envy and Barkley love resurfacing again here. It was a real love fest that 2017 season by many on this board. Funny you never see that on BWI with Pickett

I will openly admit i thought and stated on here and foolishly to my Penn St loving cousins that he was going to be another Penn St bust back then.

I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG.

until this year, Barkley didn't look worthy of being the 2nd overall pick in the draft. Don't usually see RB's take that long to get it going in the NFL so kudos for him for finally reaching that potential

Of course you did.

Perhaps it was the lack of an offensive line with the Giants. It's not as if he became faster all of a sudden this year. He still managed to rush for 1,000 yards as a Giant behind terrible offensive lines in New York, but yeah, some light bulb went off lol.

Bet if you thought about it, you can name who started the thread.
pittdan, ?? for you.

while we are on barkley's nuts for some reason. he needs 101 to break record, but game is meaningless, but it's against Giants.

You play him or sit and rest him if you are philly?

I never believed he was overrated, but NYG drafting him that high was idiotic. Kudos to Barkley for doing as well as he did behind the line there. Taking a RB that high, especially during a rebuild, is a huge risk. I was skeptical of Detroit taking Gibbs as high as they did, but was wrong there. They obviously had put together a lot of other pieces before that pick unlike the Giants.

Related on Barkley, I saw all of the Steeler fan bois and mouthpieces tweeting the clip of Pickett “sacking himself yesterday. They ignore the whole clip that shows Barkley getting cooked by the blitzer who hits KP’s arm.

He has some excellent attributes and is having an all-time season this year, no question. He doesn't have great hands though. Barkley isn't the best in the passing game. In today's offenses, it's a huge asset for a RB to be multidimensional--it's a big reason when Le'Veon Bell had such great years with the Steelers.

Saquon is no doubt a top 3 back in the NFL, but the running back position is the most plug and play position in the NFL. The Eagles are no better this year than they were with Miles Sanders. When was the last time a top 10 league RB won a Superbowl, Edgerin James?

interesting point..

i think having a great RB is icing on the cake for a good team and does make them better in the W/L column but not nearly as much as a great WR or a great DE..

if i had to pick a position to be average at, RB is probably one of those spots.

Agreed. You said it better than me.

33 receptions this year, and 321 in seven years. That's a lot of catches for a guy who doesn't have great hands. He had 91 in 2018 and more than 40 every year he's been healthy. Not great hands huh?

serious question, why would people on a pitt message board even be talking about Barkely now or when he was at psu? Kind of an irrelevant topic to be honest.
Really….it certainly could have been included in any of the other 10 PSU rant threads on the first couple pages of the board.

He now has an offensive line that is much better than he had in NY. The Giant front office were morons to let him go.

i really dont think soo. the giants had holes in their roster obviously, re-signing a big time RB doesnt help them. Now they were idiots for going all in on Daniel Jones, not going to argue that.

He's not used in the passing game like some other RBs are -- and that goes all the way back to his days at PSU. Scouting reports before being drafted noted concerns over his hands. Here's an article from September saying he has the most drops of any RB in the league since back to 2021: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...on-barkley-shoulders-blame-game-changing-drop.

He will be in the hall of fame. Hilarious that he was considered overrated at any time. It really shows just how bad Daniel Jones and the Giants were, because Barkley made them look serviceable. Teams realized that Jones wasn't good and started keying on the run game. Now we can see what the real issue was there, and it was not Saquon.

I thought he would be another great from Running Back U following in the steps of DJ Dozier, Blair Thomas, Curtis Enos and the GOAT Ki-Jana Carter.

Him staying out of the medical tent was the key. Hope he stays in Philly and sets records. Maybe the cult will shift its Eye of Sauron that market. You can’t even go to a funeral home here without seeing someone with Penn st gear…

James Conner
1361 carries for 5970 yds, 59 rushing TD
281 rec, 2217 rec yds, 11 rec TD

Saquon Barkley
1546 carries for 7216 yds, 48 rushing TD
321 rec, 2378 rec yds, 14 rec TD

Not saying Conner is on Barkley’s level but they had some surprisingly similar career numbers to date, going into this year. And James had a nice year crossing 1k rushing, Barkley’s was just insane going over 2k.

I remember when the Steelers played the Giants and James had over 100 rushing and Barkley had 6 on 15 carries. But that Barkley is in the past… dude was too talented. I’m sure his fanboys are left wondering what could have been had he been on a better team earlier in his career.
