Who are our five best players?

Not doubting you heard that, but I can't believe it.

There's reports that UGA had 22 players that made $50k or more through some court ordered records that had to be disclosed. Legit numbers, not some website's estimates. $250k would probably put him in the middle, which seems ridiculous to me.

I'll tip my hat and say adios if he's offered that. He should take it.

some people on here said that Georgia made a 500k offer. Jim H said that he is hearing about Bartholomew being contacted by other schools too (Although it was a poster and not Jim who brought up the Georgia 500k NIL rumor).

He's a lot better than pitt fans think he is. kind of sucks for him that he got stuck with our OC, really just wasted 2 years of college eligibility for him.
Probably a dumb question but are NIL collectives this open about contacting players on other rosters?

i guess there is no real infraction. this NIL money isnt technically coming from the coaches or programs but from outside entities so it's not like it's a coach "poaching" a player with an offer.

even though it is exactly that but "technically" speaking. what can the ncaa do? suspend these outside entities like 412 alliance?

Duzz puts them into a ton of potential trouble with his single coverage.

I will defend Duzz on this. 1. What coverage can you run that does not put Corner's on an Island? You can not double cover everyone, the offense will, 1. run the ball or the qb will have too much time.

If you run Palms/read two, two verts to one side will make the same affect as Duzz's, regular quarters, they will throw short and you can't miss a tackle all game long or its over, etc, etc, etc,

I guess my point was, that unless the DB's are better-than-average athletes, the potential for trouble/failure is greater with that type of defense. No argument, though. I think Pitt DB's are better prepared to play in the NFL under his program. But only the best make it.

I believe it makes no difference. Hear me out. 1. When the ball is in the air, there is no difference in whatever coverage one is in. The DB has to make the same play. So yes the athleticism of the DB is a factor but it is the same factor whatever coverage one is in. 2. In the college ranks today sitting in an old cover 3, or sitting in a physical cover 2 (double rotation for the older guys)can be employed as a surprise change up, you cannot live in those coverages for obvious reasons today. . But if you change coverages like this, you are asking your recruited athletes to play differently, different skill sets than man to man., physical corners in cover 2, etc. So recruiting one may type of athlete for that spot, and then placing pressure on the qb through grand scheme is as good as any other option that coaches can come up with. Sabans Palms coverage is similar when #2 goes vertical, no real difference, etc.
Thank you. I've been saying this for years. Too many just don't understand what we do in coverage.

The only time in our base "4" where the safety is in "single" coverage is when he gets a vertical route beyond 6 yards. He's not running with out routes or in breaking routes. Our safeties have "robber" rules on those routes.

The only thing I really like with Saban's Rip/Liz is it becomes 5 deep vs 4 verts, where Duzz has 4 deep vs 4 verts.

I would ask it like, which 5 players would you "protect" from transferring if you could. I dont even know.

1. Bartholomew
2. Goncalves
3. Baer (I am guessing on the linemen because some people say they are good)
4. Hayes I guess
5. McMillon?

I wonder if they need to bulk McMillon up and move him to OLB. Basically we have no "sky is falling if they transfer" guys because we dont have much talent
I think that was the plan but he does not want to to play lb

The more you think about it, it does make sense.

Bart would make a nice backup to Oscar Delp. They have 2 true freshman all-american TEs, but some vet depth can prove to be very valuable if you're trying to win a Natty. GB would still get plenty of opportunities to showcase what he has and work on his game in hopes of making it the league. He'd be surrounded by playmakers. The amount seems absurd, but like you say, there's a reason they are #1.

NFW UGA is making a money play for Bart. Literally no chance. They are loaded with young talent at that position. Guys that are already producing. They take their pick of TE prospects.

Too many times McMillon fails to make a tackle. Seems more interested in making a jarring hit and talking smack than putting somebody on the ground.
It was his first year getting ant meaningful pt. You see this a lot w this defense, it's like a learning curve. Other guys like Hamlin missed plays early on, too.

Don't think we can know what he really I'd until next year.

Crazy to think McMillon only has one year of football left, in a day and age when we've seen so many guys stick around for six years.

Really wish is path had gotten him to Pitt from day one.

I'm not sure if he would have seen the field any sooner with Hill and Hallett, but I'm reminded of how much I hate burning redshirts for a predominantly special teams role. It probably got masked a bit with the extra Covid year, but I just don't like it... maybe with the exception of a great return specialist.
