trying to envision next year's squad.. Without researching, I'd say it's either: Jones, Wilson (the recruit), Newkirk, or Durand Johnson.. Am I forgetting anyone? Is Cam Johnson a 2 or a 3??
I know nothing about the incoming recruit so I won't even pretend to act knowledgeable.. Jones has impressed but I like him off the bench, very streaky player so bring him off for some scoring, if he is hot (like Saturday) then ride it and if not, well limit his minutes..
I don't like newkirk and Jrob on court for long periods of time. It makes sense situationally but not the majority of the time.. Is it possible that the likely starter is someone who hasn't played basketball since two years ago? Well not quite but think about it, his next meaningful minute will be in NOvember '15 and he was injured in Jan ' 14. So basically 22 month layoff.. And that leaves out the idea of giving someone who let their team down, a starting job. Doesn't exactly send a message.. Also, is Durand someone that is an asset to a team for 28-30 minutes? I see him like I see JOnes, bring him off the bench and if he's hot then ride it, if not then sit him til next game.. Does he have the all-around game? Honestly, its been so long I cant recall. I remember his outside shot but cant recall his other skill sets..
I love what Matt S. writes about Cam but obviously we need to see that before he gets the bulk of the minutes.. I don't know folks, as much as I love next year's squad (on paper of course), the 2 guard has me worried..
