I don’t know about the rankings nationally, but we used to recruit All-District players with an occasional honorable mention All-State player. This class has the NY City Player of the Year; the all-time leading scorer at Waynesburg who was on the WPIAL P-G Top 11; another Player of the Year from a club team on Staten Island; and a junior player for the FC Barcelona team, which is in the women’s version of the Champions League. She later moved on to other club teams and ended up this last year at Espanyol, which is Barça’s intra-City rival. That might mean she wasn’t good enough to stick with Barça, or it might mean that she wanted more playing time at an earlier age. I posted once about the recruit from Niles McKinley, who scored 7 goals in one game. She has a younger brother who is an All-State basketball player and apparently is a deadly 3-point shooter.
It is, at least on paper, a huge upgrade over prior classes.
