Who to fire first: Duzz or Capel?

Capel inherited a much much worse scenario. Basketball is a total rebuild from the ground up

First would be HL and then the new AD can send Capel, his brother and staff packing. This staff is overpaid for the product they put on the floor, unfortunately it will be several more years and millions of dollars more before a change is made.

I like Heather but she is getting harder and harder to defend. I can give her a pass on Narduzzi but she is likely going to have a fire him with years left on his contract. OK, we can live with that. But Capel has been a disaster. How many AD's go 0-2 on their first 2 major moves? Then throw in that she's wasting $300 million on olympic sports facilities for teams no one cares about. She has to do better.

Narduzzi has been okay/decent during his tenure. Capel seems like a good guy and a good recruiter but man, he’s been awful as a HC. Being dominated at home by a completely depleted St. Francis team is not the measuring stick he wanted to plant in year 3.

Yep. She's a total failure.

Guys I am not a basketball guy at all and I mean at all. The last basketball game I watched was when Pitt had Blair and went I think elite 8. So please bare with me.

Is it a talent level, bad coaching, or both? If it is talent level were they just not strong recruits or did they just not pan out by failing to live up to expectations?

I looked at the roster just now and the players seemed to be from basketball areas like NY, NJ, and Philly. What is the issue?

The ACC insisted on the investment in Olympic Sports facilities. The ACC Network needs the content. It is not a waste of money. Soccer, Wrestling and Volleyball have been bright spots for the University. Football is close.

Hail to Pitt!

Basketball rebuild's take one or two player's.
Yes but our brand has been so tarnished that we can't get those two or three guys. If Capel would have been the hire after Dixon I don't think we would have seen the results we are seeing currently

I don’t think either one is anything to brag about, but Narduzzi is better. At least they play with some fire and usually beat the teams they’re supposed to beat.

Not advocating that they fire either but Narduzzi doesn’t have any loss that is as embarrassing as losing to St. Francis in a buy game.

What’s Narduzzi’s most embarrassing loss? BC the last two games? NCState this year? UNC at Heinz the year the had all those injuries and suspensions?

In comparison, think back when Howland arrived and without the most talented players, instilled a winning culture.
I'm not sure what I was watching tonight.

Howland did 10 times more in 2 years than Capel will do in 5. We're going backwards now. Capel and his staff are not the answer.

Poor recruiting, poor coaching, poor player development. Its everything. Looking very much like the Stallings era unfortunately.

If Pitt played Duke instead of Miami the record is 6-3 with a likely finish of 7-4, there is a different feel to this team.

Instead, Pitt fans got its wish to “play the best instead of the doormats of the ACC.”

Still should have won the nc state and bc games.

Don’t you think we need to give the schedule stuff a break? Per Sagarin Pitt currently has the 65th toughest schedule in the country, Team Rankings has us at #59.

I mean how much easier of a schedule can we realistically expect?

Is our SOS hurt because the ACC played an OOC game, and obviously against a dreadful opponent, whereas most conferences have not?

I certainly assume it would. It seems like most of Pitt’s brethren in the Coastal have a SOS in the 40’s, so that’s probably where Pitt’s would be sans Austin Peay. Although Virginia’s SOS is at 47, and that’s after them playing the equally lousy Abilene Christian.

Of course the caveat of that is if you remove Austin Peay that removes a win as well, and would make a win against Georgia Tech necessary to avoid a 4-6 season.
