The success of Pitt's last two recruiting weekends has almost (I would think) wrapped up the 2020 class. Per the scholarship board, we have 13 seniors this year, but that will update to 14 once Kylan Johnson is added. Most people have guessed the class will get to 18-19. With 15 already on board, my hope is that we add four more prospects (one of which being Clyde Pinder). Of the three remaining potential players, I think one should be a QB and the other two should be TEs. I had thought about adding another offensive lineman, but we are only losing two (Chase Brown and Nolan Ulizio) and have guys that might move to OL (Grant Carrigan, Jason Collier, & Bryce Nelms).
For QB, I think the best option is Mason Garica. He is one of the only remaining uncommitted passers that holds a Pitt offer (and it was recently extended). The thought here is that Whipple and fellow South Carolinian Davis Beville can sell him on Pitt. I am of the camp that believes you should try to bring in a QB with every class.
For TE, I think that fact that we have three guys set to graduate (Will Gragg, Nakia Griffin-Stewart, & Jim Medure) and two that could be moved to the offensive line (Carrigan and Collier) means that this is a position where we have to bring in two guys. Obviously, Josh Rawlings would be one of those guys. Pitt needs to try to keep the best local players home when possible (and Rawlings fit that criteria). For the second TE, I think Mahar Jr. (who has family in the area) or Boatwright (continuing the GA --> PA pipeline) would be good fits.
Feel free to agree or disagree.
