The NCAA Women's Final was played Sunday 6PM, Men? Monday 9PM. The women have the better spot, like the Super Bowl time slot! The slot where everyone can watch at a reasonable hour and the game is over by 10PM. Monday at 9PM sucks, always has. I haven't watched the game for years, just because I have work in the morning and Pitt is never in it :) but I think I'll stay up this year, I want to see if Gonzaga goes unbeaten. But YES 100% Women's time slot > Men's time slot

9PM on a Monday with nothing else going on seems like a far better time than 6PM on Easter Sunday. Would be better if the game was at 8:00 tonight, though.
Not to me. the final is not always on Easter weekend. To me, Sunday evening is always a better time than late Monday night. If it was Monday at 6PM or even 7PM I'd be fine with it. But 9PM and with all the USELESS pregame GARBAGE that I don't care to hear or see, it doesn't even tip off until 9:20. There are plenty of people like me that would watch, but don't care enough to stay up late for it, same with the Football CG. Now if Pitt ever made it, they could start at 2AM and I'd stay up, But normally, I don't care that much, unless there's something interesting about it, like Gonzaga trying to go undefeated.

Well, you have one team in the central time zone and another in the Pacific.

I dont see how any time slot other than 9PM monday would create better ratings.

The networks are not stupid.

I would assume most people are busy at 6pm on Easter. That would be an awful time for most people across the country. I agree with you that 8:00 would be better. They could start the game at 8:20 after all the pregame stuff.

If the men’s final was Sunday evening, then the semifinals would have to be on Friday. That is out of the question.

uh, have you watched network programming in the last 20 years?

Bump the men's final to Sunday and then you'd have the Final 4 games starting Friday before everyone is home from work, etc... I find the late starts for Monday championships annoying but I much prefer the Final 4 on Saturday. The way it's always been.

And the last time a Pacific/Central time zone final, with one team chasing history was when?

The last 20 years means precisely zero in this decision.

Why's that? CBS would lose some pre-game time but they could tip the first game off around 7:15pm and the second around 10pm, sure that second game is going to run late in the Eastern Time Zone but it's a Friday night. Then start the Championship Game on Sunday night at 7:45pm, that would give CBS the opportunity to run one of their lame hyped up sitcoms after the game.

It's because SMF isn't running things

If that schedule was better for TV ratings, why haven’t they used it? Friday night is not a good night for TV. The fact that there are no NFL games on Friday tells you everything you need to know.

Saturday evening/night when the semi-finals are played is just as bad as Friday night, the most eyeballs are watching TV on Sunday nights. The Saturday/Monday set-up has been around for a long long time and I'm sure there's a "if it aint broke don't fix it" attitude, plus the cities that host the Final 4 most likely prefer the Saturday/Monday set-up since it maximizes the days fans are willing to be in town for the event.

its a joke in regards to network tv programming Sparky, take it easy.

btw, West Coast folks are home at 5:30 pm for an Eastern 8:30 tip. Who the hell would not be if said history meant so much to them?

The game is not on Easter every year. The football CG is never on Easter and it sucks being Monday 9PM. You want to just argue to argue. Most people I know, don't like the Monday at 9PM start time.

The women’s time slot is better for YOU. The men’s time slot is far better for TV networks... which is what makes them the $$$
You believe what you want, I am sure there are literally TENS OF MILLIONS of casual fans that would watch Sunday at 6, But don't care enough to watch Monday at 9. Like the Super Bowl.

If the Super Bowl was Monday at 9, there would be millions less watching and the Party Culture around it would die.

Dear Karen, YOU are the one who brought up this topic. I could care less when it is played. Not a big deal to me.

It's not a big deal to me either, just IMO more people would watch it if it wasn't so late on work/school night. I haven't watched either the basketball or football final in years, and I know I'm not alone. Of course I stay up until the end of every Steelers MNF game, but I actually care about those. But never for any MNF game that doesn't include the Steelers.

For all of you criticizing my opinion, if you had a choice, when would you rather see it?
Sunday 6PM? Or Monday 9PM? Just curious.

I never realized at one time the semis were on a Thursday and the title game on Saturday.

Monday 9 PM. Typically this time of year the weather has gotten better and it would not be unusual to find myself still enjoying outdoors at 6 pm. Certainly on any day by 9 pm I am ready to watch TV. That being said when I got up for work prior to 6 am, I would be lucky to see the first half.

Now that I retired in January an 11:20 ending still gives me some time to decide if I want to read before going to bed or catch something else.

This has absolutely nothing to do with men vs women.

It's the same as football.

The College Football Playoff championship game is also on Monday.

The networks choose that day.

I didn't say it did, you did. And just because the networks choose it, doesn't mean you have to like it.

it wouldn't matter to me either, if I didn't have things to do early in the morning the next day.

Easter Sunday-6PM is 3PM on the west coast and no one is working.

Monday-6PM is still 3PM on the west coast but most people are still working.

The day before the NCAA CG is not always Easter, it just happened that way this year.

Are you a morning person? Just curious?
Not really. But I got up at 6AM for work for 40 freaking years. And if a couple of times a year There was something on that lasted past 11Pm or midnight and I wanted to see it, I sucked it up and watched it then deal with it the next day. I didn't act like the networks should check with me before scheduling an event.

The fact that he can't understand something as simple as that is funny.

They play the game on the day and at the time that the people paying the money want them to play. Because that's when the people paying the money think that they will make the most money.

You know how anyone with even an ounce of common sense knows that's ridiculously false? Because if CBS could gets TENS OF MILLIONS more fans watching the game at any other time, be it Sunday evening or 3 AM on a Tuesday, that's when the game would be played.

Do you really not understand that with all the money that they are paying that CBS (and Turner) want the games played when the most people will be watching?
