Finalize the 2021 schedule? Tennessee is the Power 5, Western Michigan is the lower 1-A, New Hampshire is the FCS. With Clemson coming in that yr, there will most likely not be another Power 5 non-conference. We will not schedule 2 FCS programs. That leaves the lower 1-A or independents like Liberty. This group is becoming more expensive, especially if you want a 1 and done. Many of these schools are full for 2021. So Tiger Paul, what do you think?

Temple is full.
UMass?
Or they are trying to get another home/home?

Costs are getting real expensive for most one-and-done's, most are usually over a mill now, some are approaching $2 mill, pretty high for what Pitt usually tries to pay

I think you are right with them trying to get another home and home with a lower 1-A due to the expense of one and dones with that category of OOC opponents. You would think they would eventually play Temple a home and home. However, Temple does not travel well, but we do not either.

Boise State? Why schedule a tough OOC opponent that no one will care if you beat since they're G5? Plus theyd want a return trip and no one wants to travel to Idaho on purpose...
and I've seen that blue field live, on TV it looks bad enough, but live it is blindly bright and kinda throws your senses off for a while

Would love a team like temple in this game. No clue if they have an opening.
Temple would scare me. It is a no win situation for Pitt. Beat them and the critics say "should have beat them." However lose, and it could possibly happen, because Temple is not the same Temple and we take a MAJOR hit to our already unstable reputation

We already have a P5 in Tennessee and Clemson is coming in, so it has to be some lower D-1

Might just be me but I think any program that has most experts penciling in a G5 school as a solid loss at home for you because they ran you off the field last year, isn't really at risk for taking a major hit to its reputation.

Very true but right now, UCF is on the National scene. I don't think they would or will stay there but Temple would not be in the same "discussion" as UCF but totally get your point

Both of you have valid points. The one thing I would say is temple gave UCF a much better game than we did last year so they are not that far off. In terms of them not being in the same discussion i think you are spot on from a national media perspective.

If they want to get into Georgia or other states for recruiting, their best bet is to try and schedule something with a team from that area. Georgia State, Georgia Southern - something along those lines

I understand. Pitt's biggest issue with national perception is that the program is all over the map.

Media reaction:
Beat Clemson? Wow, okay, but it's Pitt.
Lose to Youngstown State? Wow, okay, but it's Pitt.
