I think the football redshirt rule is excellent, play in four games and preserve eligibility. Why do they not have it in basketball? Pitt plays 31 games excluding postseason this year. It would be nice if the freshman could play in 8 and still preserve a redshirt.
I know redshirts aren't as used in basketball as in football, but I don't think a rule like this would hurt anything.
